Numbers? I am so naive !!!!

I have niticed that a number of Airstreams have large numbers. What are they, and why doesn't my '66 globetrotter have them? Your info is really appreciated! - Alderman

They are membership numbers for WBCCI. Your trailer wouldn't have them if the previous owners were never part of the club.

They are membership numbers of The Wally Byam Caravan Club International (WBCCI). If you join the club, you will receive new numbers, or you could ask for the number on your trailer if it is not currently being used.

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

The big red numbers are the owners membership number in the WBCCI. Red stars with the numbers each indicate five years of club membership. If there are blue numbers on the trailer, those are the owners' Airforums numbers.

Our dear Lucy displays both as shown below. Some Airstreamers don't like numbers on their trailer. Others think that it doesn't look like an Airstream without them.

There is a registry for the big red numbers. It is in the WBCCI member directory. You really need to join WBCCI to get one. The Forums numbers can be determined by putting your mouse over the member name, and the member number appears on the lower tool bar. For instance, your Forums number is 54551.

I always wondered about those #'s. Has anyone ever seen them on AS motorhomes?

If you join the club, do you have to put these numbers on?

I'd rather not have them on my trailer, thanks.

I have seen them on cards inside the front and rear windows and on the windows using static cling numbers. They are real handy at rallies when you try and find someone's trailer or motorhome, since they all look alike.

Hi wkerfoot,

Thanks for the info. I am a newby and just getting onto some of the nuances of Airstream ownership. My trailer is brand new and IMHO, those big red numbers would make it look like a rental rig.

It's nice to know there is an alternative. Makes joining the WB club more appealing!

Happy Airstreaming!

How do you get them OFF? We bought used and have PO's numbers - would like to take them off, but was told there is no way to totally get them off without leaving residue that REALLY looks funky- like dirty glue in number shapes...

A blow drier will soften them up for removal but a ghost will remain, especially if they have been there a while. I am a member but my trailer has never been registered. Put mine on a piece of plexiglass & prop it up outside when i go to rallies. If the # you want is taken, try changing similar #'s like 8 for 3,etc.
