Gaucho? Silly newbie question

Why is it called a gaucho? How come not a davenport, sofa, couch or hide-a-bed? It doesn't resemble in the least an Argentine cowboy....

Just curious...

It's actually spelled groucho, cause that's what you are after you sleep on it. Sal.

Just taking a guess here... but the online etymology dictionary says:

gaucho 1824, from Sp., probably from a native S.Amer. language, cf. Araucanian cauchu "wanderer."

Maybe it's sleeping quarters for drop ins...

gau·cho (gouch)
n. pl. gau·chos
1. A cowboy of the South American pampas.
2. gauchos Calf-length pants with flared legs.
[American Spanish, probably from Quechua wáhcha, poor person, orphan, vagabond.]

Maybe something Wally dreamed up on one of his South American caravans? Got rid of ours, replaced it with a dual recliner. Works better, more comfortable, looks good too.
