I'm working with vintage trailer shop on replacement top and bottom weatherstrip. If he can't find something that fits right he's going to have some made. I have one apart with a good piece for him to copy.
I'm dealing with one window that is missing everything. I have almost all the clips I need but the donor window is one clip shorter, so I'm trying to recreate that springy metal riveted under the clips. I just picked up a metal mini-blind and am trying to cut it down. It's the right gauge and feel and already has a slight radius to it. I'm not going too far into reassembly until I know better on the weatherstrip issue.

4 1/2 hours of professional welding and the front 8 feet is done. Some wire wheel work tomorrow and por-15, then spray the step Tuesday and finally I get to bolt in some plywood!!

3 in 1 about ready and 2 to go. But first I can now bolt in the front, replace the 2 panels, and rebuild a few windows and vents.

Looks like you didn't epoxy the edges on the 3rd sheet. Was that intentional?

How do you measure??
All 4 leaf springs are shot. When my flyrc helped me get tires on it we had to use a floor jack between the axle and frame to jack the tires down so I know they are flattened. The question is how much? They currently measure at 28" eye to eye. Does anyone know how to determine the original spring size? I'd like to replace them while I can do it sitting in the trailer with no floor.
Wasn't sure if the shackle angle at the equalizer is supposed to be. Thanks for any help you've got!

I'm almost ready to close up the front. I remade the Curb side belly pan up front and replaced the damaged lower front corner panel. Yesterday I changed out the one behind the door that had the wood stove cut through it.
I'm starting to clean up the front window so I can get that back in as well. That will require me to do some metal prep, primer and paint so that there is finish color behind the weatherstrip.

Today I spent about 5 hours cleaning up the front window. Man oh man what fun (not!). Not going for a mirror finish, just a clean mill finish. New screen is installed, cleaned up lifter and latch is in. Waiting on new glass tomorrow and the new screws that arrive Wednesday. Picking up my metal prep chemicals and epoxy primer so I can cut in the shell for the front window. Also have the jalousie window weatherstrip showing up this week so I can pull those and rebuild. Not much in replies lately. Sorry if I'm boring people. Just keeping track of the progress for our own sanity. A few patches set in place. We have rain forecast in the next week so I'm motivated to get the front ready for that so I don't have to tarp things

Pressing on to get glass and vents in up front. Today I prepped to cut in the front window. Windows I'm removing I want to paint behind for a cleaner appearance.
Front area was sanded to 400
Area treated with PPG SX533 aluminum cleaner mixed 3:1 with water. Treated twice (roughly 3 minutes of scrubbing with a gray scotch pad) then rinsed and rinsed.
Once that was done I immediately treated it with the PPG SX503 conditioner which turns the top layer of aluminum a bronze color. Once that was treated and rinsed the area was dried with air really well then top coated with PPG DP48LP epoxy primer in white. Once that is set the area around the window will get a coat of the top color. I treated and primered the epoxy repair up further just to protect from UV and what not. I have some sanding and filling with all metal filler plus more epoxy to spray up there in the spring. Tomorrow or Friday I can rivet in the front window. Sorry for no step by step photos. With gloves it's hard to take pictures without killing the phone but you can see where the bronze color continues past my primer coat

Thanks AldeanFan! Well it feels slow considering the number of hours. I've been working on it between 5-10 hours a day for 2 months, but back to work this week so things are slowing down. I absolutely need to get the windows all in, panels replaced, and frame work done and sub floor in before the snow flies or I'm toast. Once it's closed in I can focus on wiring, insulation, stripping, repairing and installing inside skins, painting them, and getting the cork down on the floor. Then in the spring it's finish up belly pan, paint and off to international. I figure it will take me to next fall or better to finish the interior.

Looking great, Scott. Won't be long before you install the jalousie. Hope you get all the parts and pieces you're looking for. Bubba

Thanks Bubba! Also thank you for your discovery of the stamp on your window, it started a great bit of discovery on these previously unknown windows used at the California plant. I'm getting there on the jalousie front. Weatherstrip arrives tomorrow. The window I'm cutting in is actually a Standard Hehr, although when the trailer went to mexico for that caravan before Europe I'm convinced it was another Parlyn jalousie that was retrofitted over to a hehr standard (different holes behind the drip cap and filler pieces on the sides to cover for a previously larger window installed).
The Parlyn windows I'm not planning on removing from the trailer, mostly they seem real solid, and have over 100 rivets each. I'm still 2 clips for glass (or boots as some call them) short. I bought a window from a guy in Mojave that advertised on Craigslist but he stiffed me on parts. Paypal thankfully came to the rescue. I have a couple clips I've made on my little brake and they'll do fine until I find real ones. I have good lifters, then just need to order the overlapping screen frame material from VTS and find the clips that hold it in. I did find the J hinge material I need for the rear window and fridge access door. The fridge access door needs a few more hours of work and that will get the same treatment, but will get painted inside and out then installed so it can be masked and shot around next spring.

Big riveting day on Sunday. Front window is in with a few screws to test fit. Works great.
Drip cap is stripped and almost cleaned up all the way. It will stay aluminum as it was on the Caravan. Tomorrow my goal is to clean up the two curb side Jalousie windows and get the new glass in. My hope is to have all the big openings closed up this next week while weather is still dry.
I need to find 4 good drip caps 44" long to replace the curb side and one on the street side.

Scott, what thickness glass were you able to find for the jalousie? Our glass slats are about 7/32" thick. They are laminated glass with green tint. I will probably need to replace a couple, but I'm sure hard to find. Also, Silver Trailer Supply sells drip caps at a reasonable price. You're getting there. All is looking great. Bubba
