Finding the history of our Flying Cloud

I am wondering if there is any way to find out some or all of the ownership history of ours and our friends 1951 Flying Clouds. Serial Number 7143 and 7173. Both appear to have lived the last twenty years at least in the Pacific Northwest with 7143 in Seattle area and 7173 in Vancouver, BC.

Does any one have any suggestions on ways to track down former owners, or more importantly, the original owners names? Was there ever an owners list for warranty purposes kept that may have flowed out to the WBCCI perhaps, or somewhere else, that lists who the original purchasers were or what dealership sold the unit?

Thanks,
Barry

We've received some good advise while searching for the History on our '64 Safari. Here's the thread:

Good referral ts8501. Barry, PM streamer23 if you have any WBCCI numbers. He's a very good detective on this.

I'd doubt state licensing agencies would have any practical way of going back to records before computerization. They'd probably restrict access for privacy reasons anyway.

I found a man's cheap wedding band back among heating ducts below underbed bins in the one-owner Argosy I bought 5 years back. By the time I found it I couldn't track back to the PO. I'd bought the Argosy through a middleman. Good luck finding out!

Thumbs up Good Luck~

Barry,
The best you might expect is via word of mouth from the PO and, maybe..who he bought it from, etc.
It's a very rare instances that the unit will comes with the "original sales" papers.
For instance, on my 84, I have all the original papers from the sales/factory order/options, etc..I got lucky~(I am the second owner.)
The factory has not been very helpful in providing any records for me on my past search(64GT)..Your experiences with the 51FC is, I fear, rather doubtful.
First, it was made in CA and, that facility is LONG SINCE GONE.
If you get lucky, let us all know~!
Congrats on the 51FC
ciao

Thanks for the information folks. We will likely have some success with Lee's 7143 as the person he bought his from had the trailer for more than 15 years but I'm not sure he remembered who he'd bought it from. Lee will follow up with him just in case he does come across anything that would cause him to remember who sold it to him so long ago. He was intending to make a T-shirt sales outlet by cutting a large door on the curb side and towing it to various events but instead it was stored in a barn near Everett, WA for 15+ years (thankfully).

Mine, 7173, probably not a chance. I bought it from folks six years ago who needed to sell it urgently and since then contact has been one sided.

If we do find anything we'll let you know. The history of many of your trailers that you have shared is really interesting and we were hoping we might just get lucky. Oh well.............
