African Caravan Mileage (Updated Weekly)

I will post a weekly travel log for the 1959 African Caravan. It will be taken from Lillie Douglass's book CapeTown to Cairo. If you can obtain road maps, do so, and follow the route.

This is a major meeting with Wally Byam prior to heading North through Africa. This is our campsite in Cape Town.

The Zulu culture was old and colorful. One of the tourist attractions was the Zulu Ricksha's. Here is see Wally seated, while the Zulu warrior glides into the air.

We leave Durban this week and cross into the Orange Free State.

I am following this thread and the weekly updates. I just finished the Wanderlust coffeetable book that was sent to me by Airstream Marketing and was surprised at the end to find a great dvd inside the back cover. It has a great deal of video info on the caravans and background on Wally and Airstream. What a gem! Thanks Again for all the memories you are sharing with all of us here! Happy Trails, Ed
