I have a similar photo in high enough resolution to read some of the WBCCI numbers on the trailers in the foreground. I am guessing that you may be thinking that the first trailer to the right of center that you can see the streetside of might be an 18' Traveler. I can confirm that trailer is 22' since I have other photos of that trailer. Also, you might think the 3rd trailer to the right that you can see the streetside of might be 18'. I can confirm that that trailer is in fact the 16' Bubble that I mentioned earlier. All of the other trailers that are clear enough to make out in your photo are 22' or longer (as were most of the trailers that participated on the African Caravan). If there is an 18' in the photo, it is likely hidden on the fringes or back of the wagon wheel formation with too little detail to clearly identify.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I think you had us all hoping.

We have your Traveler's younger brother s/n 4066. Good possibility our "Tiny Traveler" went on caravans 28, 29 and 30. Eastern Canada summer of 1961, Eastern and Western Mexico Winter of 1962 and Western Canada Summer l962. WBCCI Number 3993 assigned to the Bremers of Huntington Park, NY.
They look alike.

... and by the way, thats a fine looking Airstream you have there! Regardless of the caravan, welcome to the forum and please post details about your plans.

I look forward to visiting your exhibit!

Updates from Oregon DMV

I know it has been awhile, but I finally got copies of the original Certificates of Title and copies of the Title transfer for the Airstream Traveler #4059. The first owners were Dorothy and John McNeil (1958-1963), followed by Soren and Ruby Christensen (1963-1981), and then by George and Beverly Christensen (1981-1987). Penciled in the bottom corner of the Original Certificate of Title is the "#2051" I don't know if this might be the Byam Club # or not. Would anyone be willing to check their directories and see if this little Traveler was on any Caravans, or what its history was. I'd really like to be able to let people know about this history of this wonderful Airstream. Thanks

Cameron

WBCCI Number 2051 was first assigned in 1958 to a Richard and Phyllis Shaul of Pontiac, MI. They continue to be listed for #2051 through 1964.

John and Dorothy McNeil finally show up in the 1962 WBCCI Membership Directory (membership as of 1961) as #5943 in the numerical listings only (no details in the aphlabetic listings). This is the first year that #5943 was assigned by the club. The McNeils are first listed in the alphabetic listings for #5943 in North Bend, OR in the 1964 Directory (membership as of 1963), but no caravans listed. Showing up in the numerical, but not alphabetic listings means they joined or renewed their membership very late in the year - too late to be listed in the alphabetic listings that were prepared first, but in time to make the numeric listings that were prepared last.

I did not have time to check further, but it is clear that #2051 was not the McNeil's WBCCI number, but they did in fact join the club.

Thanks Joe,

I guess every airstream can't have an amazing history. I'll poke around a bit more and see if I can't unearth something more.
