Healthy Dinner?
Tonight it was Turkey & Sausage meatballs, with an herb & garlic marinara sauce over spaghetti squash, with garlic toast points, and a box of red wine (Trader Joe's ?).

I Talyan
We had dinner at Boca on January 20th.
We started with the Farmers Pizza - pancetta, potato slices, julienned leeks and burrata cheese, topped with a fried egg.
We shared the Manila clams in a tomato saffron broth.
Murray had the short rib pappardelle. Gemma had the linguine and clams.
Images below.

Hey Gemma & Murry:
Yeah, I didn't gain any weight over the holidays, but just looking at all the scrumptious meals you fix and eat, I'm gaining weight just looking at what you make, and places you go! (trying to lose a few for a wedding in march)!

Hey there Terry!
Was your chili soupy 'cuase there were a few man tears in it? A few of our friends had a/some tear(s) in their beer(s) on Sunday night too. Sigh.
We hung out with friends on Sunday and had a Pre Super Bowl Party. Sigh again.
Total football food:
Spinach dip - Gemma made it. You know, the recipe from the back of the Knorr Vegetable Soup Mix packet. Big hit! Served with soft French bread. No image, because we think you know what spinach dip looks like.
Guacamole - (Okay, you may now assume that Murray made everything else.)
Nacho cheese dip - (Hah! Gemma actually "made" this. Gussied it up with tomatoes in a homage to the Niners' team colors. She even pulled out some red linens!)
Home made tortilla chips - a mountain of them. No image because we think you know what they look like too.
French fries with mint mojo (Maybe not such football food, but a big hit nonetheless.)
Buffalo wings with blue cheese dressing (Served with rice, and yes, most people ate them this way.)
And beer! Accompanied by tears later in the evening.

The Day After . . .
we had Salisbury steaks. Banquet Salisbury steaks. Well, Gemma did. She loves them. Murray not so much. Reminds her of her childhood. Her mom would make everything from scratch, so whenever they got to eat TV dinners and canned food they thought it was a bonafide red letter celebration. Yes!!!!
So, Gemma had Salisbury steak - gussied up with freshly sauteed mushrooms, served with rice. Murray had his take on Hamburger Helper. Home made truffled hamburger mac and cheese. (Gemma had some for breakfast this morning.)
Pear clafouti (fancy French term for fruit baked with batter) for dessert.

Oh my goodness, me too!! When my parents went out and left us 4 kids alone we got to have TV DINNERS!! We thought it was such a treat, I always had the fried chicken. I don't think my kids have ever had one, in retrospect that's crime! Course the only fast food was Howdy's Beefburgers. Hamburgers were ten for a dollar!

Stuff
Gemma stumbled onto this video on YouTube, after first checking out "(Stuff) San Franciscans Say, and then "(Stuff) Asian Girls Say", and then "(Stuff) Girls Say".
She admits she saw a little of herself in it, especially when she makes everyone wait to eat while she takes photos. Ha!
We hope you enjoy the clip as much as we did.
Uh oh, it looks like the title shows up in the embedded video and the first word isn't "Stuff". We apologize if this offends anyone. We are happy to delete the embedded video and just provide the link. Please feel free to post or PM us.

Loved the utube clip, I even saw someone else I know in it. (especially the "wait...., don't touch anything yet, let me get a picture first....). However, I am amazed that you can even get any pictures of the food you guys make b/c everything looks too good. Additionally, we would probably have to "taste it first" to the bottom of the pot before it ever made it to the table!
Thanks for sharing
Have a great weekend, Terry.

"Catch"ing Up
Murray pulled out the old Boston Whaler went fishing with the boys and Gemma's mom - who just happens to love going fishing, earlier this month. When? We're not sure. But here's an image of their catch "after".
Fried striped bass with diced tomatoes and rice.

"Catch"ing Up Some More!
We had dinner at Fish Story in Napa on January 10th.
We started with the fried calamari with a lemon aioli.
Murray had the beet salad and the fish and chips.
Gemma had the lobster dinner.
We shared a small bowl of butterscotch pudding.

"Catch"ing Up Some More, Somewhat. SIGH.
We upgraded to iOS 5 today, sigh, big, big sigh and accidentally wiped our images on our iPhone.
We've been trying desperately to locate/restore the images on our camera roll. So far, no luck. We've downloaded a ton of software and nothing.
Gemma's really disappointed because we captured a really special dinner, shared with Gemma's mom, that we had on January 25th and all of the images are gone.
We had dinner at Aquarius, which is right on the beach, in Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz Restaurant | Aquarius Ocean View Dining | Santa Cruz, California It was a beautiful day - close to seventy degrees on the beach. We watched the sunset from the restaurant's dining room, with its floor to ceiling wall of windows. Beautiful.
We started with a cocktail at the bar and shared some lobster rolls. Then Gemma and her mom shared a huge bowl of clams (an image of them can be seen on Aquarius' landing page). Murray had a salad of field greens. Gemma's mom had the prawns with spaghetti with a siracha butter sauce, Gemma had the scallops with gnochi and Murray had the fish and chips. We all shared a slice of chocolate blackout cake. The best part was when they brought out the bill (usually that's the worst part) - it came with a small pitcher overflowing with cotton candy! Cotton candy! You can also see an image of the cotton candy on Aquarius' landing page.
Another big sigh. We're still trying to find the images. If anyone knows how to retrieve the images - we'd love to hear from you.

Thanks so much for the link Jane. We really appreciate it.

Bought a picnic ham today, so we had ham, scalloped potatoes and green beans with turkey (our newest try at healthly) bacon and red onion. Tomorrow we get to make a big pot of beans, split pea soup and either navy bean soup or a 8 bean soup. Filling up the freezer with soup and beans. Great to have on hand as the weather turns and we can take off.

OK, they didn't have food like that when I was there! Actually I pretty much grew up in Sonoma (Yea, Sonoma Valley Draggons) and enjoyed the annual Vintage festival (Do they still do that?), and had several Aunt's & Uncle's live in Napa.
Hope you guys get your photo's recovered, I personally know how frustrating to lose once in a life time photos, b/c of "photographic gremlins".
Regards, Terry.

Homemade MaidRites with dill pickle and red onion; crispy apple slump. Good on a foggy, chilly, February evening. MaidRites are great to make ahead before an Airstream trip, freeze in pint packs for quick on-the-road meals. ~G Some people call MaidRite type sandwiches "loose meat." Not so appealing a name to me!
