LOL........, Still LOL!......., rolling on the floor, trying not to throw up while LOL! Side hurts too much......! OK, Next time you go to one of those High Falutin Places, in the San Fran area, this experience should send up red flags! What happened to "We'll be hanging out with some old Italian fishermen, and local crabbers at the annual San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf Association's Crab Feed."? and how did your " bottle of Kendall Jackson chardonnay for your table's guests" go? Sorry, I just can't help. So how did your faux pas" go overall? Next time let us all know in advance, and we "may" take up a collection for an Airstream Aluminum colored Tux for you Murray, and a slinky designer dress for Gemma! Just kidding, I have been in worse situations before, but held my head high and acted like it was no big deal. Glad you guys had a great time! By the way.... did you two scare away all the see lions on the wharf? Seriously, experience is the best teacher. Non the less, We are still jellious we couldn't be there! and we are pleased you two had a great time! I probably would have worn my pin striped overall's and Little Bride would have worn her jeans and sweatshirt!

Regards, Terry Little Bride.

Apparently old Italian fishermen and the local crabbers clean up really well. Thank goodness we wore our good jeans! Maybe next year we'll show up in our good camo tshirts and try and blend in. Everyone was really nice, and we think the Kendall Jackson helped smooth our way out of not getting tossed out on our keesters.

Come on, really, it was a crab feed!

Last night we had Thai beef and green mango salad with steamed rice.

Tonight we're off to Big Sur for two nights of camping in the old Airstream.

Don't know about tonights dinner, cheft's choice. But you can bet I'll be eating!

Yhottys: Seriously, thanks for sharing, I really needed a good chuckel, I don't get too many that I can share b/c of the work industry I'm in, has something to do with either offending someone publically, or violating their "Hippa" rights, but maybe someday. Just curious, have you guys ever been to muir woods?, In all the years I had lived out their, never got the chance to get out there. Suppose to be something pretty inpressive

Regards, Steelegood

We had spaghetti and meat sauce, with peas and carrots for an additional veggie. I needed the extra veggie after the deep-fried burrito I ate yesterday...

Steelegood,

Muir Woods is one of Gemma's favorite places. It is truly awe inspiring, but so is a fruit and cheese plate, which is what we had the first night, Sunday, of camping south of Big Sur.

(Thank goodness Murray wore a sport coat and Gemma wore heels! We were going to wear t-shirts and jeans.)
I want to see Murray in a sport jacket and Gemma in heels at our upcoming NorCal Spring Rally POTLUCK! For sure you both will be the 'best' dressed and it will not cost you $100.

Aww Neil, you'll be lucky to see us with any shoes at all-flip flops will be our "good" shoes, and if the weather warms up, hopefully no jackets.

What did you and Lynn have for dinner last night?

Pork chop for me done on the grill...in the rain. Lynn doesn't eat pork and enjoyed a salad.

Spaghetti sauce (always lots of garlic and onions..good for heart and health) mushrooms, bay leaf, beef, tomatoes etc. Served with pasta and garlic cheese bread.

(Sidebar: We have two birds, a Cockatiel and a Senegal parrot. They both go crazy over pasta, seems as soon as the pasta hits the water, "they know" and no peace in the house until they have their pasta. Too funny!)

Catching Up

We had grilled lamb chops and asparagus Monday night and fresh abalone panfried with extra virgin olive oil and sea salt Tuesday night.

All enjoyed from our Airstream, viewing the amazing coastline south of Big Sur.

Are you at Kirk Creek? We want to go there this year, what's a good 'spot' to reserve?
Neil.

Neil,

Yes, the image above was taken at Kirk Creek. We were at site 19, but really, we don't think there's a bad spot in all of the campground.

Now, what's for dinner?

Can you reserve for Kirk Creek? Haven't been there for 5 years when I still had a tent trailer, now with a 28' stream there would only be a few spaces that we could fit into. Abalone, yumm, where did you get it, HMB?
Last night was fried cat fish, my partner didn't like it and had to settle for the rice and salad, the wine helped too.

Hi there T-Square!

Yes, you can reserve Kirk Creek through Reserve America. Some of the sites are a bit short, but there were quite a few that could accommodate your Airstream and tow vehicle.

We love fried catfish!

Hawaiian Dinner

Luau if you will.

Dinner at Gemma's brother's house. Our sister in law is from Hawaii's Big Island and her mother has been visiting and cooking up a storm.

Here's an image from our iPhone-sorry the images are so grainy. Our iPhones don't do so well in low light situations.

From the left:

Apple and fennel salad
Chinese poached chicken
Brown rice
Ginger scallion sauce to accompany the poached chicken
Mom's potato salad-nice and eggy (just like we like it)
Bok choy braised in chicken stock
Roast duck
Hawaiian braised spare ribs
Yi mein with roast pork and peas

Ono=yummy!

Leftovers

Last night we, well really Murray, cooked a multi-course dinner for some very generous contributors to our nephew and niece's school. He was actually auctioned off for $1350 (he spent a few days convinced that if he was worth that much in the kitchen for one night, he should be worth a lot more in other rooms of our home as well) and all of the funds went to the Parkmead Elementary School in Alamo, California, a very worthy cause.

So here's the menu for last night's dinner for twelve:

Appetizers

Bruschetta

Roasted Red Peppers on Baguette Croutons

Achiote Chicken Skewers with Mango Pineapple Salsa

Salumi, Prosciutto, Sopressata and Olives

Salad

Caesar Salad

Entree

Lobster Agnolotti with Lobster and Chervil Cream

Tuna Nicoise with Roasted Baby Beets and

Rosemary Olive Oil Poached Potatoes

Beef Tenderloin with Roasted Wild Mushrooms and Bernaise

Mashed Potatoes, Garlic Roasted Potatoes,

Roasted Cauliflower, Grilled Asparagus

Cheese

Gorgonzola, Humboldt Fog, Mount Tam, Red Hawk,

Parmagiano Reggiano, Taleggio

Fruit and Organic Honey Comb

Dessert

Chocolate Cake with Cocoa Buttercream Frosting, Organic Raspberry Coulis

Tiramisu

With the exception of the olives, baguettes, salumi and cheese Murray made everything from scratch, even the pasta for the agnolotti.

The images below show Gemma helping out with the bruschetta, the appetizer table, and the evening's menu.

Needless to say, tonight we had leftovers. Gemma ain't complainin'.
