we've got a mix of enamelware, corelle & stainless steel plates/bowls, a few stainless mugs and to go coffee cups. We use scrapers (like pampered chef's) to clean all of the food bits off so we use very little water/soap to clean them.

We travel with a set of vintage melamine: the dinner plates are white with yellow and turquoise flowers, and the rest of the dishes are turquoise. Optimistically, I bought them off ebay for our Airstream several months before we bought the Airstream itself.

Great idea! You use less water and don't have "stuff" going into your grey water tank. I've got a few scrapers myself, I'll put one in the camper this weekend.

We planned our purchase for more than a year before we actually bought our Airstream. In that time, my wife "decorated" the Airstream combining our two biggest interest: Disney and Jimmy Buffett.
She tossed out the bedspreads that came with the Airstream and had palm/jungle patterned comforters ready to take their place. She searched the web for weeks 'till she found a set of melamime dinnerware with palm trees...we have service for eight. We have stainless flatware with a shell pattern in the handles and she bought polycarbonate drinkware in both ice tea and juice sizes with wine glasses and margaritta glasses in polycarbonate as well. (Word of caution on the polycarbonate: the cheaper stuff often has rough mold seams, the higher quality stuff usually has had the sharp mold seams buffed off.) I happened to be in Linens-n-Things one day shopping for a gift for my wife and saw some die-cut, hand painted place mats in the shape of palm fronds so I got a set. At first my wife didn't like them, but after taking a second look, she did. Our outdoor table cloth is yellow with palm trees on it. Our table cloth anchors are light-houses, shells, starfish, etc.
Where's the Disney in all this? Our coasters are Mickey icons. There are Mickey icon pillows and other Disney items in the trailer and there are zebra striped back pillows in the boys' bunks. We have combined the Disney/Jimmy Buffett and jungle theme of the Safari together. And of course, our official cocktail is the margaritta.

It'll be a while before I'll be going anywhere, but I have these Duralex glasses. I have the Viva style, they have a few others. I don't know about in the US, but in Europe they're pretty much universally used for school dining halls because they're virtually unbreakable (you have to try very hard... which we did).
They have glasses of various sizes, coffee cups, jugs, bowls, and dessert dishes. I prefer real glass to acrylic glasses, although of course they're heavy.
For plates & bowls, Target often has nice melamine dishes that are relatively cheap, and I have quite a few of those, but I may look for a vintage set to match the colour of the interior once I've decided on that.

Now we're rolling!
Okay Folks, We are now into page #4 of this thread!!! I did go off and read the thread on stocking the kitchen but that had a lot of appliances mentioned rather than dish/glassware preferences. I really want to keep this on topic as to the style of dishes that we are choosing for our trailers and of course the why behind the choice. Might also need to list eating utensil choices. Mine have Aqua polycarbonite handles on the real stuff and of course we also will carry plastic ware for weight reduction and ease of use for cookouts. So come on and let 'er rip with the whats and whys of your choices. Ed

Dunno, not my department.
Seems like its either acrylic or paper, except for my coffee which comes in a ceramic mug. The paper is our usual for ease of cleanup. We call it our camping china.

love this thread...
i carry 1950 ish (love "ish") Brookpark Modern Design melamine. the company won an award for their design. the square guys. depending on wether it's a "show", or "rally", i'll carry service for eight, or four. colors, every color! coffee service is my favorite. square black saucers and square orange cups... food service i do have four colors collected depending on the interior design theme. i'm shocked that flatware didn't get brought up... like 1930 ish bakelite w/ service for eight. i think over decoration is a key to ones personal happiness, but hay, i could be wrong. britney spears; for trailer friendly behavior , there's no topping the divine ms. spears. glassware anyone?

Flatware, you want flatware? How about this...I'm using the late 1950's Oneida Community Stainless in the "Twin Star" pattern that housewives used to collect by sending in thier Betty Crocker coupons. It has a cool atomic looking pattern that fits just pecfectly in Maxwell. Service for 8 plus serving pieces, courtesy of ebay, of course!

Oh my gosh! I haven't seen those in years. Twin Star is the flatware we had at home when I was growing up, and I think my mom "bought" hers with Top Value Stamps. Remember those books of stamps? I love that pattern! We used it with Boonton Melmac, one of the earliest versions, in a variety of (really dull) colors.
For our Bambi, I'm using an old Rogers stainless pattern "Bamboo", also from eBay (where else?) I wish I could still collect Top Value Stamps!

Ok
OK, you convinced us. My wife is getting ready and we will be going to the Corelle outlet store in Vacaville, CA this afternoon. Gonna get a set of Corelle in some kind of "Safari" pattern to go in our Bambi, ROSCINANTE. Probably end up at Ikea soon too.

Atomic Flatware
When we were looking for flatware we were also trying to get the Atomic stuff.... Someone outbid us on Ebay! Hmmmm! I guess now I know who that was...LOL! It also looks as if Jerry will be spending some $$$ on Corelle dishes due to this thread! Wow... now this is real POWER just think what forces could be at work here. I wonder what Corning/Corelle stock sells for these days? Better call my investment Guru and cash in on the surge in the stock price after everyone gets that Perfect pattern. I know that Wally World here carries several different patterns but my guess is that the big outlet mall store probably has many more styles. I bet this opens up new additions to this thread....he he he! Devious ain't it! Ed
