I have been doing omelettes and cinimum rolls using my waffle iron for few months now after seeing this video. Takes a few try's to get the temp and time right but well worth it.

Clever! I don't think I want ALL my food to have waffle pattern on them, but some of those look pretty good

This is great. This is another direction for the non cooker in me when I don't have eight hours for the slow cooker.

I wonder if they also make a flip-over pancake griddle like that, so the food wouldn't have the eggcrate pattern?

There are some VERY clever ideas in that list!
Once we hit the road, one of our goals is to discover and then share how to eat the healthiest possible way while on the road. That is how we eat now and I want to make sure that doesn't change. I'm a LITTLE worried, but see it as a great challenge!

I use a food saver vacuum sealer to portion control our chicken, beef, pork, seafood which I buy at our local Costco in bulk on sale. I package up two servings for me and the wife, and freeze them prior to our trip. They freeze well and freeze flat which takes up less room in our trailers freezer, and I feel it works better as the cold circulates better imho. We just pair up our meat withe the fresh veggies and it helps us maintain our waist lines as well as save money...

Regards,

Reganzo

I tried the waffle maker omelet tonight. Two eggs, little milk, bits of ham. It came out very well. Like a nice fluffy egg waffle. 3 minutes, one flip over.

I tried regular hash browns, not so well.

We do the same. I bought my SO a vacuum food sealer for Christmas and she's been on a vacuum sealing tear ever since.

Best thing since Betty White... Betty is actually older than sliced bread.

There is even a waffle pie iron.

Fill it, stick it in a fire......voila!

I started cooking in restaurants when I was in High School and for four or five years after. I cooked with and for many chefs, learned many skills in the industry. I just love seeing new ways of cooking the same old meals. I do admit I can do an omelette in a pan faster and easier with less mess than the waffle iron.
Pam and I camp with a group of friends every year and they love to do omelettes in a bag. I did pan omelettes to order one year for everyone. The pan omelettes are so much better in my opinion but I think they all just like the novelty of the boil an omelette in a bag. One year I did ice cream in a dutch oven! 90 degrees outside and was able to make ice cream camping! I may never actually try any of these but I like the novelty of it.

Omelette on a bag is a regular Boy Scout thing. The kids think it's great fun but the volume of water you have to boil to allow 16 kids to do their thing is a terrible waste of fuel. We have a Foreman G5 with waffle iron inserts and use it to make waffle french toast. The holes allow for more maple syrup. MMM
