Screaming Flamingo Hot Sauce

Greetings,

This past week, Amy and I moved a few steps closer to one of our dreams...our own hot sauce label. We have loved spicy foods for years and have an extensive hot sauce collection that has grown since moving to San Antonio.

In March, we planted a large garden that grew more than we ever imagined it would including thousands of chile peppers. We decided to give our own sauce a shot, and after a few attempts...we feel like we came up with two really great tasting sauces. After going back and trying the sauces in my collection after tasting ours....I dumped half of my collection out because I felt it couldn't compare in the taste to fresh product.

After we had enough feedback telling us that the sauces really were good and it wasn't just in our head, we purchased a domain and started a Facebook page.

Forum members bredlo and fishhouse sent samples of artwork to be used for our items.

Anyhow, I wanted to share the facebook page here since all of my Airforums friends on facebook have really supported us a great deal since we started this week. We do not have product currently available, but the facebook page is updates as often as we have new information.

So if you are a hot sauce lover, please follow us and request a sample once our containers arrive.

Al,

I have been very busy the last two weeks with new employee orientation and taking my license exam (Which I just received yesterday). I need to get to the container store to actually find a box that is the right size for these trays. If you want samples, I can send with the trays...I just have to wait for the sample vials to come in this week.

Know you've been busy Steve. Was just kinda making a little joke. To tell you the truth I like spicy foods but rarely ever use hot sauce. Would like to try it some time but no rush.

There are few things better than a good hot sauce mainly for flavor but with a nice burn to get the endorphins flowing. What kind of pepper(s) are you using in there?

When you finally get things going you should have some t-shirts made up with the pic from the label on them. I'd like to have one.

In this picture of the original sauce, we are using mostly cayenne chiles. We do have a small amount of habanero that has been deseeded just for the flavor though.

In our "chipotle" flavor we have chipotles, cayennes, and habaneros. We do have plans for additional future sauces once we finish our fundraising and become established.

Actually, on our fundraiser page there is a T-shirt for donating at a certain level. My mother donated at that level the other day. It was almost counter productive as the tshirt cost me nearly half of her donation.

Got an email from AIR member bredlo a short while ago. Here is his sketch for our chipotle version of the sauce. We love it!

Mr. bredlo has done it again folks.

Here is an early rendition of the Screaming Flamingo Chipotle. We recently put together some small 4ml sample vials to send out. For more info you can always check the facebook page.
