Panini presses

I am looking for a Panini press and was wondering if anyone had recommendations on which one to buy.

Thanks
John

I found this little cutie online....Amazon, I believe, for $15 or so.

I was looking for something small and cast-iron for the Interstate, as the only skillet I had out there was a lidded, 10" or so....a bit more than needed for one.

It is good quality, has a nice, non-stick surface, makes a nice sandwich, and doesn't require electricity....which is what I wanted.

I have also toasted buttered bread, and cooked ham and eggs in it.

I have the poor man's version. I just use 2 cast iron skillets. Heat up both skillets before you put on the sandwich. Put the sandwich in the larger on, than put the (hot) bottom of the smaller one on top and PRESS.

Thanks for the info, however, I am looking for one that is electric. Any suggestions on an electric one would be greaty appreciated. It would sere a dual purpose at home and camping.

Have the Cuisenart and it works great. Like the feature of taking the reversible grill/griddle plates off to wash them.

I love my cuisinart. It has a temperature control which is important for thicker sandwiches. You can turn it lower so the outside doesn't burn before the inside gets hot.

Ditto on the Griddler except it became our barbecue grill when we downsized to an apt

We use a Foreman grill G5. It grills burgers chops and steaks, does waffles and does a reasonable pannini.

We have enjoyed our Cuisinart Griddler Grill, Griddle & Panini Press.
and tempted to add "new waffle plates" seen WS-
http://www.williams-sonoma.com/produ...-panini-press/

Never thought to buy a panini grill but when our large electric griddle failed several years ago, ventured to find some type griddle which stored easily and the Cusinart was purchased during pre-holiday deep discounts. As others have posted, it is very easy to clean with removable griddle plates. Believe it weighs approximately 10 lbs. Have not taken camping yet as we do not always camp with full hookups. May consider taking sometime as I think it would work great at campsite cooking outside or in the galley.

From one John to another John:
We use our Krups Panini Grill about once a week at home.
We always ways take it with us in the Airstream, and use it almost everyday.
Until they invent something better, we will Panini often, or as the need arises.

Well we did buy the Cruisnet Panini /grill. We will use it a home but it will also become one of the toys for the AS. My concern is if I keep purchasing appliances fot the AS will I have room for my wife.

Tried this for lunch in our AS today. Two days ago a good friend gave me a 10" square old Griswald. I used it on the bottom. Used my #8 SK on top. Had the bottom pan a little too hot so one side was a little too dark (read black), but not so bad as not to eat. Next time (read dinner) it will be perfect.
I always cook on cast iron, so nothing extra to buy or carry.

Thanks for the tip.

I use a waffle maker ($3 thrift-store find). The bread is branded with little squares - no big deal.

Another Griddler owner here. I chose it because it doubles as an electric grill for outdoor cooking. We use it constantly when camping.

Perfect, and if the spirit moves you you can also make waffles in it. Space is limited so multi purpose devices are more desirable than single purpose ones. My Foreman G5 make waffles, burgers, steak ,omelettes, and even pannini. The grill lines on the pannini are not really perfect, but the result tastes every but as good.

Frying pan and a pot on top of your sammich full of water. Same thing without the expense and space consumption!
