Low class trailer cuisine....

I ran across this advertisement and thought other members might get a smile...

Collecting Low-Class Cuisine Ideas

Reply to: sale-117443596@craigslist.org

I am trying to find as many trailer park cuisine, church potluck, low-rent recipes as I can.

If you have a recipe you would like to add to my ever growing collection, I sure would love to have it.

Thanks.

A few years ago some one thoughtfully gave nme a copy of "White trash Cooking"... it has favorites in it like Best Mayo Sandwich, Possum Stew and the ever important Fruit Coctail Cobbler - for fancy company dinners....

I suspect you'll find everything you need in this book - or the compainion book, white trash II....

The sad part is I didn't realize I was white trash until someone told me not everyone grew up eating mayo sandwiches!

Well, we didn't actually use mayo. We're lower upper middle class, so we used Miracle Whip

Chris, maple syrup with pecan pieces is pretty good on ice cream, although I don't think it would go well with fries...

An outstanding "resource" is "Mrs. Blackwell's Heart-of-Texas Cookbook" by Louise B. Dillow and Deenie B. Carver (1980, Corona Publishing Co., 1037 South Alamo, San Antonio, TX 78210--ISBN 0-931722-06-3). Advertised as "A tasty memoir of the Depression", this little gem has all sorts of interesting recipes for people who actually know how to cook and stresses on-hand items. The accounts of the gravy recipes, especially "red-eye", are especially interesting (e.g., "The amount of gravy served is inversely proportional to the amount of available meat.")

Good Eats!!

Here in the north we Yanks ate lard on our bread. Yum, yum!! Also made pudding out of the craklins of rendered lard and boiled our pork with saur kraut!!
When I lived in the South I thought it was an R O C Coca-Cola and a moon pie.
I guess we were red necks, huh?

Jim...what part of the south? R ah Cee Cola and Co Cola are two totally different things. And Moon Pies only come in one flavor....and I don't care what the advetising says...Banana IS NOT A Moon Pie flavor
