I was thinking about going to the car wash to clean mine. Maybe I will try your solution.

Looks like a similar product called Bon Ami. On another thread someone recommend Easy-Off Fume Free as a good cleaner for the Cobb.

Yeppers. But I don't let mine get that nasty before cleaning it, though.

Does the Cobb grill, when it is operating, comply with the no open flame rule when it is in effect in National, State and other Parks and the like?

I think that comes under "don't ask, don't tell".

Haha I know it looks gross, but I cleaned it each time after I used it. Soap and water alone would not take the black stuff off the walls, though. The grease at the bottom was just from the burgers I made earlier that day.

I've never been able to get ours that clean with Bar Keepers Friend (which is our standard scouring cleaner, since Safeway stopped carrying Bon Ami)--that must have taken a good bit of elbow grease. On the other hand, I do use occasional sessions with oven cleaner (we have a very old grill--with the plastic sides--and it was recommended by Cobb at the time we got it). Works great, though after years of use, there are scorch marks that won't leave in the coal compartment. Oh well!
