I use Dawn foam. I put a squirt on a scrubber and wet and soap up each dish. Then I rinse individually and pour the water over the soapy dishes to give them a prerinse. I put my dishes on a towel placed over my round sink cover to protect my marmoleum counters. We camp in a 19' Bambi and space is at a premium. A dish rack is not worth the space it takes up. I also use the biggest pot method mentioned above. I only resort to paper if we are dry camping or eating on the fly.

For quick clean ups of just a few dishes, I use a spray bottle with a pre-mixed mixture of Dawn and water (I keep it under the sink). If I think I need "hot wash water," I can just put the spray bottle in the microwave for a few seconds.

We use and love the Joseph Joseph Wash and Drain Dish Pan. It fits into the sink and we've never experienced a drip from the drain plug.

Paper plates create more waste then is necessary. We must all do what we can to reduce waste.

I heard the black plastic oil pans from Walmart fit the sink perfectly and work as a wash basin.

We have a collapsable (rubber) dish washing pan for our soapy hot water - (goes on counter left of our sink) - put the washed items into the sink - spray rinse in sink - we have a folding table with a drying rack on the right of the counter (cover with towel to absorb excess water)

dishpan and drain rack. run water into teakettle until running hot and place on stove to boil, run the now hot water into sink, wash in sink with soap, place in dish pan, wait for the kettle to boil and rinse the dishes with the boiling water, place in drain rack or towel dry.

If a wash basin is what's desired (for gray water minimization or whatever), I recommend those nylon collapsible sink inserts that tend to fit perfectly in the fold-down sinks that Airstream installs. This one is a 10-liter Advanced Elements pocket sink. That thing hanging down in front is its storage sack. There are more expensive versions on the market; this one is low-end, but it works.

Having a single, round, sink, I use a round plastic bowl from WalMart, available in pretty colors for outside use.

The perfect size, and mine is in a cherry red.

Run a little water in the bottom, add a dab of Dawn, wash and rinse, dry on a microfiber drying mat...also red.

Dump the water away from the site, when possible, or into the toilet.

I am also a big fan of paper plates, paper towels, and sturdy French fry boats available at Sam's, Costco and restaurant supply stores. No styrofoam.

Burn in a firepit when available.

Friends at a recent boondocking camping trip set up a small table by their outside shower, and she did dishes there with two collapsible buckets, dumping the water away from their site when finished.

Help me do my dishes

I wash, then put the un rinsed dishes in a countertop drain rack,,,, after all are washed I rinse the dishes as they come out of the rack, towel dry, and put them away.

Gradiens super tenui glacie.

This "wash dishes" thing required a few trips to a few of my bar-keeps. They were all in agreement, the people behind the kitchen door take care of dishes.

We have started to use paper plates, but you still have to wash the pots, pans and cutlery.
I too, wanted a double sink like my previous trailers had; but AS told me that 'EVERONE' Wanted the single tub.

You can't use paper pots and pans

I had a double sink in my trailer. I replaced it with a larger single sink. I couldn't soak or wash frying pans very easily in the double. Some of my plates didn't fit in the smaller sinks either.

Some plastic plates are recyclable, as are paper plates.

If I still had a double sink, I would bring a tupperware tub as a soaking sink

We've had double then single Airstream sink models. The big deep round bowl will wash anything and takes less countertop space, we like it. Just use one of the rinse methods mentioned and it works well. It's a tiny house compared to home, so things work a little different but the results are fine.

Dishes sit in a dish rack on a towel on top of the stove cover. Once dishes are done, I dump the soapy water into the toilet. What remaining water hasn't dried/drained from the dishes, I usually wipe dry with a dish towel and it's all done.

I think there have been multiple threads about the single vs. double sink debate, but I much prefer a deep single sink to shallower double sinks. And either of those to the shallow single sink that was in my Bambi. That was pretty much worthless as a sink.
This works for us, too !

Coming in a little late, but dishwashing is a subject near and dear to me. I use the same bucket as Janet H. As others do, I stack the washed dishes outside the bucket. I’ve found it easier to set the bucket on the counter when about half the dishes are done (plates, other flat items first) and then rinse and put in drainer. Not rinsing over the bucket prevents dilution and cooling of the dishwater--the first water out of the faucet is cool. The dishpan shown below is great. It fits on the sink of our 27 FB. It stores in the cabinet over the dinette easily.

Correction/addition: it is a red dish drainer (not dishpan) with a small spout at the bottom front to drain into the sink; purchased at "Container Store" in NYC 3 years ago

Oil change pan fits into sink

We use our Corelle plates all the time when camping. For doing the dishes, I use an oil change pan that fits into the sink. The oil change pan with an inch of water is the wash pan (placed on counter), rinse in the sink, and drain/dry on a drying mat placed on the countertop extension.

I took the double sink out of the Minuet and replaced it with a single large round. The double was not large enough to get a dinner plate into the bottom. I still have the double sink somewhere, couldn't stand to toss it.
