Well, that Moka thing is exactly what I got for our new Airstream. We used it one morning. I had to go through four pots of it before we each had our big, stainless mugs filled twice.

And we vibrated and discussed heart palpitations for hours. La Gringa almost swore off caffeine.

Nah, we need something with some volume to it. I am not wired for a sip of coffee and that's it. I need something that at least lasts through a newspaper without jangling my head off all day.

Cuisnart

Gringo

right now for weekending and short trips we are just using a $20 GE drip maker from Wally world but once I retire and make longer trips, I will be talking the DW into letting me bring the Cuisinart from the house. Other than a Bunn which unfortunately has more leaking problems over the long run than any AS, this Cuisinart makes the best drip coffee I have found and will make up to 12 cups without taking up a huge amount of counter space... and its got brushed metal surface.

Amazon.com: Cuisinart DCC-1200BCH Brew Central 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, Black Chrome: Kitchen & Dining

Although, I may opt to buy a new one that has stainless steel carafe....

Amazon.com: Cuisinart DGB-650BC Grind-and-Brew Thermal 10-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker, Brushed Metal: Kitchen & Dining

We use an old La Pavoni Euripiccola. What civilized person does not start their day with a good cup of cappuccino?

An old fashioned Mirro perk is what we use.
Pros
· Light weight, rugged and compact. Available is different sizes. Cost is nominal.
· Works with flame on rig’s stove, Coleman stove or campfire. (If you do use a campfire, coat the exterior with dishwashing detergent before sitting on the fire. I makes clean-up much easier.)
· Works with any kind of ground coffee. Add a grinder if you really want some fresh coffee.
· Uses cold water so no time or effort required preheating water.
· Put a small round paper filter on bottom and top of grounds and no problem with grounds.
· Simply wipe with cold water and paper towel for clean-up. Soap will ruin the flavor.
Cons
· Does take some monitoring to keep it from boiling over.
· Will have to experiment with water level and boil times until you get the strength to match your taste.

Low tech works for me as well. The coffee pot on the stove is just the beginning of my low tech day.Maybe it is because I had a Erector Set as a child that technology and I butt heads.I drink my coffee in the same manner as I drive my car,an easy progress of gears with no rush to attain running speed. No zipping back and forth, bouncing up and down and crashing for me thank you.

NOTES:

"Coffee in a percolator is inevitably boiled several times over, leading to significant over extraction and the tarry bitterness which boiling produces. If you HAVE to use a percolator, choose a coffee which is low in acidity and VERY smooth, and grind it even coarser than for the French press. Allow it to perk for no more than 3 minutes."

and yet, who among us has never met someone who prefers a freeze-dried instant over anything else they have ever tasted? How do we explain the popularity of Folger's or Maxwell House? There are levels to this thing called taste that we may never fully understand.

My son was showing me the compass app on his iPhone (over coffee, note the careful nod to the thread subject) and I had to tell him about your squall adventure.

Here is the best 12 cup coffee maker in my opinion. Having lived in Italy for a few years and being married to an Italian, I'm partial to Bialetti. We use this in our house and transfer the coffee to a glass Thermos. We use one of these milk frothers to make the best cappuccino every where we go! Works great, tastes awesome, fast, and it requires no electricity to operate.
