We have a braun , no longer available but I would recommend a non breakable pot.
ours is stainless and we bring our beans along to grind them fresh.
We usually have some type of electric. If not find a Starbucks for that am.
I think ours worked when we dry camped. ???????????

What do Y'all think of these 12V Coffe makers like these:
12 Volt Coffee Makers 12 Volt Coffee Pots

My partner will kill me if she doesn't get her coffee. LOL

I can't be without coffee and I found this little contraption to do the job very nicely, and it doesn't take up any space. I never thought I could survive without a coffee pot but this makes it so easy and I always have a fresh cup of coffee. It sits inside your favorite mug, you add you favorite coffee and just pour the hot water over. It's fast, easy, small, and cheap. MSR makes it and there are a few other versions of it as well.

For 1 or 2 people it's great.

I have a friend who bought one for his trailer and was very disappointed with it. They draw a lot of battery (20 amps) and take a very long time to brew the coffee .

We just use an inexpensive coffeemaker when connected to shore power, a stove-top percolator when we are not-----and Folger's tea-bag type things when hubby needs an afternoon cup. We also carry these with us during air travel, with a little coil heater for the mug----not the best, but not too bad!

Never use battery power to make heat, especially when you have gas available.

Agreed. We have a 12 volt coffee pot, and a 12 volt hair dryer. Both only get used when at locations with 3 amp power (like at WBCCI rallies), where you can use the 12 volt power immediately, and have the rest of the day, and all night, to replace the power consumed. And no, they aren't all that great as far as functioning.

I absolutely agree.

Besides that, I can't imagine an electric coffee maker that does better than the non-electric options such as the press, peculator, or even the Malita drip system.

After reading about the Aerobie above, I went and ordered one, along with some accessories, from Amazon...

Aerobie® AeroPress(TM) Coffee & Espresso Maker

It's indeed a great way to make a quick, rich tasting, non-bitter espresso or Coffee Americano...takes about three minutes...

I heat a measuring cup of water in the microwave to use in the Aerobie, then 'squeeze' out the espresso right into a mug, then add remaining hot water to make the full cup of coffee....just great, smooth, rich tasting nectar!

It's also easy to add some frothed, warm milk, instead of the additional water for that 'Cappuccino' or 'Caffe Latte' taste, when the mood strikes...

We've always used 'French Roast' coffee for it's aromatic, dark, rich flavor...IMHO it's best for this type of coffee making!

Try it, you'll like it...yummy

Good Coffee?

At home I use a press but when on the road, I use a Melitta #2 cone. Makes really good coffee if you start with really good coffee beans. It gets even better with a sniffer of Hennessy or such.

I also enjoy a good cup of tea in the evening. You should try it - after all - the Boston tea party was some time ago!

I guess that answers it. NO 12V!! I'm going for a press w/ Propane heat, just like I do at home when I want a cup of express.

Aerobie® AeroPress(TM) Coffee & Espresso Maker

looks really great. I'll try it out. Thanks for the tips. You guys are great. I have never joined a forum that I enjoy so much.

Hi, we just use a simple in-expensive stove top coffee maker; We were using an electric drip coffee maker, but I don't like the fact that the water goes through plastic parts.

Hey.....whenever I make a political statement like that I seem to get my hands slapped by some mod or other. Must be the way I phrase it.

We bought one of the little espresso makers, and need to get rid of it and get something else. The French presses like that Frieling press looks perfect, but don't you also need a second, separate container to heat water in? Seems to get fairly complicated. Maybe the old aluminum percolator pot is the best, simplest solution for us.

Use mine all the time when camping; it's excellent!

A french press does require something else to heat water in, but it doesn't have to be a dedicated thing like a kettle. You can just use a pan you're carrying for regular cookware.

We're having a fresh cup now ... mmmm! If you drink espresso based drinks at home but can't bring one on the road, try an old fashioned Italian Moka pot. We use a 6 cup Bialetti and Illy Moka ...

We keep a Frieling press and frother on board as well but find the Moka pot has become our "go to" in the mornings. We don't have a Chemex or Melitta drip, but they definitely make a fine coffee as well.

For boondocking we use an older Revere perculator, but with power, we use our Kuerig. No mess, just pop in a K-cup of choice, dump in one (1) "mini" water bottle and 3 minutes later you have a great cup of coffee, tea, hot chocolate or whatever.

Coleman - Camping Coffeemaker -=

We're going to try this for boondocking ... but mostly we try to get at least electric sites, for that fresh brewed drip. Days do not begin for me without my java fix, I am a vegetable until that happens ...
