OK enough is enough. I do not need another coffee maker and now you all have me looking at tea makers. Where is this all going to stop? Please, pretty please, stop I feel like I am watching the shopping channel and feel obligated to buy.

By the way please ignore my pleas as I love reading these threads

At home I use a Technavorm Moccamasterwhich is essentially an electric Melitta drip method. In the trailer I use a German made ceramic Mellitta cone and pot. It makes fabulous coffee.

Particularly enjoy their seasonal Peaberry coffees if you enjoy medium roast....highly recommend!

Or.... Stop by Costco in Lihuie and pick up a pound of 100% Kona. A much better brew imho. For me the Kauai coffee just doesn't pack the right punch. Love everything about Kauai though! Go there every year for a couple weeks.

Costco is near the airport in Lihue so pickup your Kona coffee before heading out. When we lived in California we went every year but no so much now living in Texas (long flight). The traffic in Kauai has gotten worse every year due to one road around the island.

Costco at Kona on the Big Island does an incredible business. People come from a long distance so it is fun to watch how much they can stuff in their vehicle.

My daughter has been making this coffee, loves it, and I finally tried it.

It is delicious, and easy. Stores in the frig to mix with, for me, milk for a cold latte. Yum.

This makes strong coffee, perfect for iced or a latte.

Would be great for dry camping in hot weather, for lots of reasons.

SARA'S COLD BREW COFFEE

4 cups cold water
1 cup good ground coffee

Mix, cover, and let stand 18-24 hours. Strain, refrigerate.

I'm a part time coffee drinker and bought a Farberware Percolator Yosemite. I made coffee for my daughter with MJB grounds on my last trip and it came out pretty good. Just don't let it perk too much. When it starts to perk lower the heat and let it perk a few more minutes. Coffee went well with the large cinnamon rolls I baked in the oven.

We don't have room to store a bunch of appliances so this fits the bill for us.

OK, I just don't get it---educate me, please.

I bought one of those Keurig (spelling?) and an assortment of K-cups (or whatever they are called) for my son. He wanted one. I ust don't like the taste. Nothing special, tasted like diner coffee. Nothing I'd ever seek out again. Yet, other people rave about them, extoll the marvelous flavors, etc. What did I do wrong? Is there a special brand to recommend above others?
I currently drink drip coffee, Peets, brewed through a Technavorm MochaMaster. I am always open to improving my morning coffee (and afternoon coffee, evening coffee....)

We were hoping our 2016 30' Serenity would arrive in time for Farmington, but, alas, it is about 2 weeks out from us now. Otherwise, I would love to come visit for an espresso! Perhaps another time, another place... we can compare Serenitys. I would love to see what you've done with yours.

No worries, be happy! If you enjoy it and your taste buds are satisfied, then you are doing it right!

We aren't all wired the same. I prefer espresso over drip, but that's me. According to my mouth: milk, sugar, and added flavorings are for other people.

You did nothing wrong, except buy a Keurig machine

Keurig cups are an environmental nightmare, so much that the inventor himself had gone on the record saying he wished he never made his idea public. The coffee sits in warehouses for month, making it old and stale.

The best coffee is made from freshly ground, freshly roasted beans. We use a Melitta filter, but a French press or Aeropress also work well. Personally I don't like Percolators as they tend to burn the coffee by boiling it.

The important parts are, IMO, good coffees, good water (I use reverse osmosis), proper grind, water temp, and brewing time. All variable so I have found with my espresso maker I can control these more or less.

The Keurig does not allow one to control all these. So, as a control freak naturally I can do it better😂😎😇 Still LOL

I don't think anyone who uses a Technivorm is likely to be significantly impressed by other similar methods of making coffee. It's long been the drip machine of choice for the serious coffee nerd. I've had some acceptable cups from a Keurig, I'd say some K-cup flavors are better than average diner coffee. But most diner coffee is swill.
