Lol!
I thought I'd killed this thread by putting everyone on a diet!
Latest: My wife has accused me of being a "feeder!"
You know, one of those guys who has a 600lb wife - bed-ridden!
and says, "I don't know how she got so big! She only has snacks!"
...and all because I do a particularly good Ragu or "Spag Bol" as we call it over here!
Here's my recipe for all you budding feeders:
Finely chop: Onions, Carrots, Celery, Garlic and fry in a little olive oil until they sweat.
Add the minced (ground) beef and brown thoroughly.
Add a tube of tomato puree and passata(blended skinned tomatoes , not more than a pint to every 2lb of meat ) and herbs: Origano, Rosemary.
Reduce until the mix no longer "swims" in juice
Crumble in a beef stock cube like OXO (2 if you like it really meaty) and mix in.
In the meantime: cook fresh Taglietelle, drain in a collander and add a big shot of olive oil.
Grait a bowl of Parmagiano Regiano. Italian friends of mine do this in advance and keep it in a plastic bag in the freezer.
Serve with Focaccia bread - not too heavy!
Guaranteed NOT to give you heartburn - not too many tomatoes - not too much acidity!
Go forth and fill your beds!
