Thumbs up Camping for Thanksgiving!

Pretty darn proud of ourselves. We are breaking from tradition and taking our beloved Airstream camping for the Thanksgiving weekend! Even better news is fellow NEU member (my sister) pattyo is joining us on for this late fall adventure.

I'm doing research to find a campground to stay at right now. Here are our requirements:
  • In New England (and still open! Hee hee!).
  • FULL hookups - lots of dishes to be washed after a big turkey dinner
  • Cell phone service - must talk with family members on such an important US Holiday
  • Shopping nearby - I'm thinking pattyo and I can slip into some beautiful, quaint New England village and purchase artful items for Christmas presents. Then again, Walmart is fine too.
Any suggestions on where to stay are very welcome. Oh, if you want to join us for our Thanksgiving camping adventure we'd be thrilled!

Have fun! Take lots of pics!

Sounds great

If you want to venture toward Ohio for another holiday, we have courtesy parking. We are near scenic Lake Erie, the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame, and all kinds of shopping! LOL
Sounds like a great way to spend a holiday with family!

We are on the serious liklihood list. Are you thinking of Wednesday as your travel to day or Thursday? A worst we would show up early Friday. Take "The Bat Cave Express" to the family thing in Rhode Island on Thursday and leave from there Friday morning.

Keep us on the list. We have to do the traditional family thing locally and can join you Friday morning for the rest of the weekend. Sounds great to us!

Turkey Day

That will be so much fun! I love camping for Thanksgiving. Of course, it's not as cold down here in the south as it is in New England. Great opportunity for sitting around a big bon fire after dinner! Enjoy!

Normandy Farms or Danforth Bay are the only ones that I know of that are still open that late, and have all the "ammenities".

Don't know whats going on at that time of year up in Danforth Bay, but NF is in the heart of "suburbia".

Plan is to arrive on Wednesday afternoon, get set up and begin happy hour. Turkey on Thursday - leftovers on Friday . We plan to leave Sunday morning, get home and winterize "The Tube" and "Scatter Bug". They will then be put to bed in our Airstream barn for the winter.

Thanks! And you'd think you were seeing double with my sister's 1977 Argosy Minuet 6.0 parked next to yours.

What about the place in Loon Mountain? Kind of far but should have snow.

We are leaning towards Normandy Farms - It's more $ than Danforth Bay but futhur south so maybe it would be warmer there (yeah, right). It also has indoor pools, hot tubs and a pretty fantasic club house. They are also offering a Thanksgiving dinner, not that we are interested in it but others may just want to enjoy the entire weekend without having to figure out how to cook a turkey in their Airstream oven.

We are interested!

BTW...Danforth Bay is closed over the Thanksgiving holiday. They reopen in early December.

I will look around too and see if I can find anything else that is open that time of year.

Good to know! Wasn't listed on their Website (that I saw anyway) - but makes good sense as many folks just want to be at home for this holiday.

This is getting exciting - I envision a number of Wallys sitting down to Thankgiving dinner around their Airstream/Argosy tables. My sister does know it yet but we'll be eating dinner in her tiny Argosy Minuet 6.0 because she has a dinette (we don't have one in our camper). We'll cook the bird in my oven though, it's about 2 inches bigger than the one in her trailer.
