Best dessert in every state

If there is something I like more then travelling it would probably be eating,eating dessert to be more precise. I specially enjoy local cuisine and getting to eat something that is closely associated to a specific region and that has been enjoyed by many generations. So I am in search of the most emblematic dessert each state has to offer. If by any chance you feel you know the restaurant or bakery that makes the best please let us know. And for extra points a recipe and picture would be great as well.

In my area of the Mississippi Gulf Coast restaurants are judged by the quality of their Bread Pudding and recently Tiramisu.

Anywhere in the southern US - PECAN PIE.
I like it served warmed, with scoop of good vanilla bean ice cream or a dollop of real whipped cream.

Thanks for the recipe. Pecan pie is really good and I also like chess pie which I think is also from the south.

The Fraser Valley (in beautiful British Columbia) has the best berries: strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and wild blackberries.

The wild blackberries are just starting to come in. You can pick them right from the road, and make your own blackberry shortcake or trifle:



The Chilliwack Airport also has the best pies. It's close to the Trans-Canada highway, and has a big parking lot for rigs.

The best pecan pie I have ever had was the Chocolate chip version with a scoop of ice cream that Mimi's used to have on the menu. If anyone knows about a new source, I'm listening.

Machado and Ikeda pies in Auburn California are strongly recommended. Why choose one as best when you can hold out and try them both.

Pensylvania has some very interesting food. I remember eating scrappel in a little breakfast place north of Lancaster. The waitress try to discourage me of ordering it saying : you will probaly not like it. Boy was she ever wrong , I really liked it but unfortunatly it is impossible to find here in Montreal.

King cake is not a dessert, it's a Mardi Gras snack pastry, and most low-end king cakes are just sugar-frosted bread. Neither are beignets desserts, they're New Orleans style sugar-sprinkled sopapillas served with coffee.

On the other hand, creme brulee at Commander's Palace is a dessert that beats the best bread pudding anywhere!

Side note— July 27th was National Creme Brulee Day.

Thanks for correcting me. You are right creme brulee is excellent but you have to give credit where credit is due and this great dessert is French not really American. How about bananas foster?

Kentucky doesn't have an official dessert, but the blackberry is our state fruit. Find a good blackberry cobbler recipe, top with vanilla ice cream and enjoy.

There is Derby Pie, most famous is from Kern's Bakery. There are lots of recipes for it on the Internet. It's good, but I prefer a good pecan pie. I love blackberry cobbler, but what you get these days isn't really cobbler, it's blackberry filling covered with a sheet of thin cardboard.
