Beer Biscuits - Wow! Are They Ever Good

I make a batch of these in my home kitchen, store in air-tight container, and into the Airstream they go before hitting the road.

Make a green salad, grill some of your favourite sausages over the campfire - dinner is served!

FAN'S BEER BISCUITS

3 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons sugar or Splenda
5 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
12 oz. beer
melted butter

- preheat oven to 350F., and grease 12 muffin cups
- combine dry mixture in a large bowl
- add beer all at once and stir until blended and elastic in consistency
- fill muffin cups completely
- brush melted butter over the top of each muffin
- bake 20 minutes or until a toothpick stuck in the center of the muffin comes out cleanly

Variation: For a Tex/Mex style biscuit, I use Bud Lite Lime beer and add chopped jalapenos to the batter.

That sounds great. I love biscuits. I make Buttermilk, Bacon and Sharp Cheddar cheese ones that rock. Biscuits are a travel must have.

Looks like a good candidate to pour all the dry ingredients into a food saver vacuum bag, make a note about the beer & butter on the outside, and toss into the camping gear cabinet for the next outing!

Thanks...

Now that looks good and I and even tastes better. You have to have the beer bottle with the fancy stopper to get the full effect. Thanks for the recipe.

batman, yours sound good too. Can't go wrong with bacon! I have a recipe for maple/bacon muffins I'm dying to try. Since they contain eggs, bacon, flour - I figure they would be my bacon 'n eggs and toast in one!

Mexray, that's a good idea. The campsite will smell like a brewery when they're baking; you might lure some visitors!
