When did you acquire first AS [yr. & what model] and are you still owner of AS and active trailer not setting in shed some where? My first was 1962 22 ft. pur used in 1963, several since, now have 1976 31pur. new in 1977 use every spring thru fall, no longer go So. in winter. My 76 is original except for mandatory replacement of several items, no gee gaws on walls or outside just like came from factory. Added spice rack and rock guard that was option after pur. plus aluminum wheels. Changed care free awning to Zip-dee several yrs. ago. If you care to state your age okay. I'm 81 no stopping in site.

We are new to Airstream trailers. We looked for a small camp trailer for the wife. We wanted something of quality with decent resale value. We finally decided on an older Airstream. We searched locally and the world wide web. After a couple of disappointments we hooked up with a couple from San Jose, CA. they sold us there 1964 Safari, built in Santa Fe Springs, CA. It was first sold in 1965 from Santa Cruz Trailer Sales, Santa Cruz, CA. to a family in the area and they used it for years then transferred the title to there daughter, she kept it for a few year before selling it to the couple from San Jose that I purchased it from. So I guess, We are the 3rd or 4th owners depending on how you look at it.
We purchased it in 2010 and used her for a year before deciding on a ground up renovation. There were so many little issues and one very big leak up front.
I finished the ground up late 2012 with help from Uwe and Area63Productions.
"Everything" is new except most of the frame and the skins (rebucked & replaced rivets).
Hydraulic disc brakes, Custom Maple interior, Hydronic heating with instant/continuous hot water, Insulation, Wiring, Plumbing,Etc. Too much stuff to list, but most importantly no leaks.
My current 1966 Overlander is my fourth Airstream. It had one owner from new, until I acquired it in 2011. All the original paperwork came with it, books & manuals, original order spec'd out by the buyers with the pricing.
Not sure what happened, but it seems the trailer sat unused from 1992 until 2011. It was outdoors somewhere in NC.
We are proud to have rescued her from rot and disaster. She is a whole lot of fun!
We're on our 2nd Airstream. First was a '85 30' Excella that we purchased in 2008. Used it for 4 yrs and planned to keep it around awhile when a good deal came up from a friend in Kansas. He was selling his 2001 Excella 30'er that he purchased new. Lightly used, adults, no kids, no pets and best of all, stored in an underground cave in Missouri since new. Couldn't pass it up and that's we travel in now. We're both 65 and retired.

Our first airstream was purchased from my parents - a 1970 Overlander that they purchased from a dealer in Fargo ND in 1973. Their first was purchased new in '66 (Tradewind). Purchased in Long Prairie MN. I attended my first International Rally with them in Bozeman ('73).
Then we bought an '86 over the internet - leaks and rotted floor in both ends and bathroom. Repaired and added new axles.
Then traded both for our current 2005 31' Classic in June of '05.
Hi, we bought a brand new 2005 Safari 25-B in September of 2004. [that's when we picked it up] And we still have it. Our plan was that this will be our one and only trailer.

This is our first. We have a 1972 Argosy. It was my grandparents. They acquired it in 1983 from the original owners. It had been sitting unused since 1994. It received tornado damage in 2007. We went and got it last April to fix and start using.
In early 1970s I bought a 1968 INT SOV of the ROAD. I took to Germany in 1975 and sold it there. In the 1980s I bought an older Bambi which had a tube heater right inside the door. I kept it for only for a summer and sold it because it was not at all as well appointed as the 31' International. In Sep 2014 bought 1958 22' Caravanner and am making it more "state of the art" than a brand new one. Will have about $10K in it when finished ..Very very small carbon footprint. Reduced it to 2180 pounds with a 300 pound tongue weight. With someone sitting on the rear bumper and helping to push I can pick up the tongue and drop it on the ball. Heat with wood, boil my water, sleeps 6, propane in refillable 1 pound bottles, 40 each 1 gallon water bottles, turbines (whirlygigs) on 3 roof hatches and much more.
Ex-girlfriend and I bought a '71 18ft Caravel in 1992. Towed it with an '86 F150. Actually, she bought the trailer and I bought the truck. We put 25,000 miles under that little Caravel in about 18 months. She went back to work in Canada and sold the Caravel to her sister. It's been at the sister's lakefront lot on Horne Lake on Vancouver Island ever since.
Wife and I are both retired now, and bought the '12 FC27 in May '14. We bought it from the local dealer, who sold it new to someone who developed health problems, and the dealer got it back on consignment. We hadn't been looking for something that new - we were just looking at floorplans - but there it was, we liked it, so I made a low-ball offer which was at the upper end of our budget, and hot dang we got it for just a leeetle bit more than we offered! About 7000 miles on it so far, and we're leaving for the International next weekend!

Well not really but folks had a travel trailer that we all, younger brother and I, enjoyed during the hot summer Michigan summers on Lake Huron. Then when I was 14 dad was retired and he and mom decided that California was in their and my bro and I would be our home from then on. They sold EVERYTHING.....even my boyhood hand me down metal toys from pre WW2!......and bought a 1950 Pan American 26' travel trailer. We towed (with a '48 Nash) and lived in that trailer the whole trip on Route 66. My first trailer was a Scotsman that my new wife and I got for our honeymoon. Then came kids....and it was back to tents....then a van....then a Coleman popup then a bigger popup. Kids grew up and we sold the Coleman and got a 5'er....hated that. Eventually we discovered.......TA DA...AIRSTREAMS and bought a '66 Trade Wind that we have enjoyed for the last 9 years.

First time owner of a 1963 Overlander. Ghost number 8093. As far as I can tell from my research and talking to the previous owner I'm the 4th owner. An immigrant couple from Italy bought it new, they had it until the 80's when they passed away. A French man bought it and used it for several years until he parked it. It greatly deteriorated during this time. Then a woman for OKC bought it with the intention of restoring it but never did anything with it. I bought it from her July of 2013. I've been slowly renovating it when I'm home.
We are the 2nd owners of a 28' slide-out built in Oct 2002. The first owners were long time streamers on their fourth continuous unit having first joined the community in the late fifties. Shortly after their purchase, the wife died and the sons convinced Dad he shouldn't be heading out alone at 83+ while both were too busy finishing their careers to make use of it.
A late night internet session caused me to stumble on the ad minutes after it was posted. By dawn, I had a reply and 48 hours later we were hitching it up for the 500 mile trip home. (We had been searching for almost a year by then.)
Late May through Memorial Day weekend marked it's last outing for ~90 days. 32,000+ miles and 41 states later it resides temporarily in the driveway undergoing its first interior refresh since departing the factory. Fabrics and materials arrive daily for the summer 'project' which I expect to have done by Labor Day so we can make an extended fall foliage run through New England.
Countless open houses later, my wife continues to remark about how this remains the perfect unit for us and vigorously debunks notions of exchanging for another. I guess I've made too many custom touches to it
We are new to AS and recently bought a 1954 cruiser. We all around like antiques and vintage things. We are in the process of a total redo. We knew it would be a lot of hard work and so far it ringing true, however, we are enjoying it and are excited. We did a total remodel in the home we are currently in and even though it was hard work we are enjoying the fruits of our labor. I want to thank the AS forum as well as the community for being so helpful with answering questions. We look forward to meeting fellow airtreamers on the road!
Second owner to a '00 CC Diesel. I know I love it as much as the PO but I don't know if I could ever care for it like he did. I wish I could but sadly I'm just not as meticulous. I have never bought a used ANYTHING in such amazing showroom new condition. And the PO kept every piece of paperwork ever...the one good habit I adopted. The PO kept a file with every documented thing done...and even made his own for stuff you wouldn't usually get paperwork for. I had zero worries about the service history on my rig. I just wish the PO had been selling under better circumstances (wife passed). But at least he knows I've loved it all the same and treated it just as well.
Until I owned and AS I never thought I'd care about the next owner besides their check clearing...but now that I'm in upgrade mode again I'll be vetting the next buyer for sure.
We are on our first AS, the culmination of a twenty year dream. Picked it up on 6/6/15, and have spent one night in it so far. But we have only had it for three days. First real trip will be up to Lacey WA for the Dixieland Jazz fest.
Have had several previous RVs but bought first Airstream last year (2014). It was a 1964 Bambi II which I restored and camped in before realizing it was just too small for us. I sold it in January 2015 and two weeks later purchased a 1955 Flyind Cloud. Just finishing my restoration and have camped in it once so far. I think it is the perfect size for a couple.
