You Might Be An Extreme Airstream Owner If...

I think this question to myself quite often and have gotten some pretty funny answers! Anyone who wants to add to this thread, please do!

You Might Be An Extreme Airstream Owner If...

... you've ever camped in the snow. (I have )

... you can change a flat on your camper quicker than a Nascar team.

... your Airstream costs more than your house.

... your Airstream has more insurance than your house.

... you can camp without any hookups for longer than a weekend.

... your license plate says HPYCMPR

... your Airstream is parked inside a heated garage and your personal vehicle sits outside.

... you cant possibly fathom the idea of not using your camper for a year.

... every 3 day weekend is a good camping weekend.

Ok, ok, mine arnt that good! Some of you guys have GOTTA have a funny bone!

You actually understand filiform corrosion!

Your RV is older than you are! And in better shape.

If you enjoy making people squint when they look at your Airstream because the polish reflects the sun so bright?

You can discuss the brand/size/ load ratings for tires until the cows come home......

Ditto Hensley vs Propride hitches...

You have a tube of Vulkem (or Trempro) on standby at all times.

You can point to your 49-year-old Airstream and say that it was the travel trailer in which you made your first camping trip as a five-year-old when the trailer was new . . . .

Expressing your camping depth and years of the knowledge and functions of your Airstream, we you can pull into a site, level the coach, disconnect from the TV, have electric, water and sewer hooked up, with awning extended, colors posted, and chairs outside drinking chilled wine in 20 minutes or less upon arrival.

The return? everyone around you (already there) in awe and speechless.

True story......

You know you're an Airstreamer if you come home from a camping trip, get safely parked in your driveway, then can't bring yourself to go into the house. At least my dog finds this perfectly normal, acceptable behavior.
Think about it.......On the last day of your camping trip, you wake up, and don't have to drive! ........Winning!!!!!!

Your favorite jeans, field shirt, and the dog, smell like the campfire, you just can't bring yourself to wash any of them.

You wipe off the finger prints and nose prints that all the little kids have left all over your polished trailer, while making faces in the mirror finish, under the cover of darkness so their parents, who also happen to be your relatives, don't think your obsessed....but you really are...and they probably know it anyhow.

You go camping for six weeks in one stretch in different National Parks, and make a practice of saying hello to every Airstream owner you encounter.

Favourite opening gambits:

"How old is your Airstream?"
"How do you like your (Bambi/Interstate/Flying Cloud, what-have-you)?"
"Nice to see someone with good taste."

We've camped in one site for 5 days without hook-ups on several occasions. (Most National Parks don't have any.) The real concern here is filling up the waste-water tank, not so much using the generator or hauling more fresh water. We did have the stuff back into the bathroom once. Blech! Very narrow window between green and red on the diagnostic panel. Sort of cuts down on taking hot showers.

Lest we seem too feral.... we do travel with Riedel wine glasses & champaign flutes. After all, it is an Airstream.
