Wood Camping Sign (First Class Company!)

I couldn't find a thread on here about a good sign maker, so I will start this one.

We always wanted our own sign to display on our campsite. We had no interest in a silly statement about somebody's burnt hotdog, what happens here stays here, you know the kind. I wanted something tastefully done. Built with some effort behind it, and made by hand, not some mass produced piece of crap, sign.
I looked & I looked, and looked again, searching the net for that one craftsman that built a quality sign, and took some pride in their work.
It took me several days, but when I found it, I saw some serious potential. I am all about supporting a local business, and especially a small business.

I first contacted Kathy via e-mail, which lead to a conversation over the horn. They hadn't done an AS TT before, and she was anxious to draw up some sketches for a new challenge. I sent her a picture of Eloise, and what we wanted on the sign. It was hers to create, I just gave her the building blocks.
Well, I'll let the picture do the talking. It arrived today via FedEx, and I couldn't be happier with the end result. THIS...THIS is what we wanted! Ray & Kathy are producing an EXCELLENT, quality product. The detail on this sign, is just incredible. Even down to the orange marker lights. Kathy paints them, & Ray cuts them.
I have to say, if you're looking for a sign that will last many years, and one you'll truly be proud to hang in your campsite, please give them a call. You won't be disappointed, I promise! And for those who ask about Ma Moura, it means "House full of love, under God's blessings."
We'll sea ya down the road,
Gavin & Kay

Thanks for this. I have been searching the net for a sign but this is nicer than any I found.
I was thinking of looking at Lowes for a metal sign holder similar to those used for garage sales or the ones used by realtors

Did you warn Ray and Kathy that their phone might be ringing a lot, this week?

Hmmm

Lil Nomad...you are NOT supposed to be asking intelligent questions like that!
To be honest, I haven't gotten that far. I was thinking on the top of the right or left rock guard, but that might be too far away.
I was thinking of a short, in-ground planter with a hook. Something small for storage, but I would need two. if anyone else has a good idea, please share. I like firstwaves idea, but idk about storing it.
And yes Eric, I did ask Kathy if it was ok to post up the end result. I hope her inbox doesn't blow up. The sign was under a hundred bucks. Well worth the $ given the finished product. Here is a picture of the back. Ray does very nice work. My hats off to both of them. They knocked this one out of the ballpark IMHO.

Also check out campsigns at Carved Wood Camping Signs Wooden Signs and Plaques. When we had an Aliner they did one for us with an Aliner on it. Then when we bought the AS, we had to have a new sign with an AS on it. They do excellent work and have a number of graphics to chose from.

ummm......there is an error in punctuation. You might want to bring this to their attention before they make any more signs.

The possessive case is not even a requirement as there in no mention of any object being possessed. I vote no apostrophe at all.

Funny enough, being a Sign Lady I've been working on a sign for my own house this week. It's off for sandblasting right now. I'll post a pic of the completed sign when its done :-)

Here is a PDF of what it will look like

Unless you interpret the sign as marking their possession of their campsite. It could work as is...

Beautiful sign!!

You are correct.

Should read "The Sneeds."

If the sign read "The Sneeds' Airstream," then the possessive apostrophe is used as such.

So much effort went into this sign; that is why I cringed when I saw the error. As an editor, I am often privy to the unneeded insertion of the apostrophe in surnames.

FishinHatteras, I know you are proud of the workmanship, and rightly so, but I would request a redo of the sign. It would also benefit the signmaker if they were made aware of this so it is not repeated. I really hate to see the passion of workmanship discredited by a simple mistake.

And here I was worried about being the .."silly statement about being a burnt hotdog" when serious grammatical errors are being made!!!

Susan (of the Phoenix, burnt hotdog rescue)

It is a very nice sign.

Technically, no, unless there is only one Sneed. Then the sign should simply read "Sneed" or "Sneed's Airstream."

You are right. But why the detachment of the surname from your first names?
In the editorial world, we call one word, name, or sentence standing alone a "widow." We are urged to correct this.

I missed that - the last name isn't Sneed? I assumed it was (the sign maker wouldn't put an apostrophe there otherwise). I also assumed the sign maker mistakenly pluralized by making the name possessive - however - if we assumed the Sneed family was claiming the space where they plant their sign - then, The Sneed's could indeed be correct for that purpose.

If my assumptions are faulty, so is the rest of my attempt at a saving grace here 😔

Either way - it's a lovely piece of art!

Sbb, I love to help people who are genuinely interested in learning and have pride in whatever it is they are presenting.

If space is an issue, how passionate are you about displaying your full names? Would D & S Banks work? Or, how about leaving it at "The Banks"?

I find the name "Eirestream" delightful - along with its Irish connection.
People will ask, what does that mean?

If it were my sign, I'd make "Eirestream" or "The Eirestream" and the carving the largest, most prominent feature of your sign.

And....may the road rise up to meet you.......
