Hi Protagonist, I certainly understand where your coming from. I'm in a group of fisherman, a group with a Monty Python theme. Whenever we bring someone new into the group they have to go on 2 fishing trips before we they become "Knighted" with a name. Usually something happens on those first two trips which determines their Knight name. Until then they are Squire <firstname>. Fishing boats are named somewhat the same way, but each captain gets to choose his own, although there is a lot of input from the other Knights.

My wife and I have talked about owning an AS for almost as long as we've been married; 25 years. That dream is finally a reality and we're so excited that we can barely contain ourselves. Because of bad weather (ice storms) we dare not try to bring it home. So, to amuse ourselves, we've been going through names. It's extremely difficult for the two of us to agree on almost anything so we thought we'd start early on the names

We do agree on waiting to make anything permanent and unless we paint it on the stern, it's still open to change.

One additional naming requirement / suggestion I'd like to add to your list is that the name should also reflect the interior motif. If you name it like "Nanook", maybe have a penguin theme for the interior. (My wife disagrees with this but then she doesn't like the multi-color awning lights, which I do and happen to come with the trailer we're buying.)

We're "newbies" at AS but we're also pretty easy going and open to all suggestions and advice. You may see us struggling to get things hooked up, leveled, emptied, pulled out, pushed in... etc. Please feel free to stop in for a beverage and dispense some advice on whatever we're doing that could be done easier / better. If you laugh at us, we'll try to laugh with you (but maybe not right away).

Rich

Question 1: I've seen many AS names here but do you have the name painted on the AS or create some kind of name plate for a window or doorway?

Question 2: Do you add knick knacks to the interior (or drapes or sheet colors or throws etc.) that follow in line with the AS's name?

Rich

Rich, I like the idea of a name plate! I think I'll have to have one engraved and added to the Airstream serial number plaques beside the door.

Mine would read "The Armadillo".

I wondered about having the name painted as well. Even thought about having our name & logo done in vinyl for the back window but not sure if it would work. Any advise out there?? Also, although we are about 2 weeks away from FINALLY picking up our new Airstream, I have been like a squirrel storing acorns! I did find extra pillows with a compass on them that I love and other than that, just purchased things to add color. Have fun and safe travels!

I learned about a company here in the forums called Squire Designs. They do all kinds of graphics for autos and RVs. They've done my WBCCI numbers (and a few others as well) on cling vinyl sheets that work beautifully.

Google them and give them a call. I'm sure they could work up something nice for you.

I have no affiliation with them except for being a happy customer!

Well it has taken some time and meditation but we will name our AS (when we get it) Air Command. I am starting to work on the graphics now. It will be the airstream but instead of wheel under it it will have the basket and motors like a Blimp under it. So the AS is the top like the hinderberg without the fire.

What's your name??

Our AS is called HR LOLA. Kind of a play on words. (Abbreviation for hour, pronounced our). Someone had already picked OUR LOLA and R LOLA from the DMV so we had to get creative. There are a lot of people that can't figure it out, but my response to my husband is "if I could think it up, how hard would it be to figure it out"? My husband picked the name. That was a surprise. He usually says "he doesn't care, what ever you want". Turned out to be a great choice. It's true, "what ever Lola wants, Lola gets". Showing my age?

Our first girl is Silvery Claire...read it out loud and you just heard Silver Eclair. We felt that this was a different spin on a Silver Twinkie. We can't get our grandsons to stop calling her Claire the Tin Pickle, and we laugh every time.
Claire is on a permanent sight, and this brings about the name of our second girl. Claire is a rear bath Sovereign and we all know that it means we have rear end problems so she is parked so we can enjoy...and then there is Beulah. She is older and and a center bath that we will be hauling whenever we get her ready and have the time to do so...Beulah seemed like a good name for a sturdy old girl who loves the road.

"The Jelly Bean". The trailer was my grandparents. That is what my Pap-pa always called it. So, "The Jelly Bean" it is
