We found her! Lucy3 aka L3

We're excited because we have searched high and low! And she was hiding in plain sight. So, last week, we bought her to our house...our "new-to-us" Airstream...a 34' 1995 Excella which was a real find! After using her only minimally, the PO's parked her in their barn, and they visited her on-site. Once weather permits, she'll need new shoes, LP tanks re-certified and filled before our first trip. We're looking forward to our travels.

Lucy3

Thank you for the cheers! Every day it's been above freezing, my husband has been outside "kahfutzing" and tweaking! That's part of the fun of AS ownership we think; we feel so fortunate.

I hope L3 gives you as much pleasure as you have had with 1 and 2. Keep her rolling. The only problem with a 34' is I can't invite you to stay at my home as one bend in the driveway is just too difficult to negotiate with anything that long. But, within a mile to four I can put you up at a nice National Forest campground.

BTW, that invitation is good for any forum member. Hookups included, riverfront site, under tall pines and huge cedars. Just best if you are 25' or less in length.

1995 Excella 1000 - L3

@Alumaholic: More pictures will be coming soon...thanks always for the "atta-boys/girls."

@BAB: The support and camaraderie generated by this website is indispensable and greatly appreciated.

@idroba: What a generous offer! We will absolutely keep your offer in mind! Are doggies welcomed? We share our world with two rescued female mini-Dachsunds, who by many estimations, won the lottery once they joined our family.

Hope to meet you all someday down the road....=)

Yep, yep, doggies are welcome too. We might even be able to get L3 in the drive, backing it down from one end (circular driveway).

1995 Excella 1000 - L3 - refrigerator issue

With the remaining propane in one of the tanks, Dave tested the stove and furnace; they worked well. However, we have our first curve ball in our short two-week ownership: Lucy's Dometic refrigerator a Model RM 3807, the refrigerator "gurgles," and does not become cold after being plugged in an hour. Currently, my husband is searching the Dometic manual for a troubleshooting list. Realizing it is parked outside, it's night time, and 24 degrees adds to the anxiety. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. Is it normal for a refrigerator to "gurgle?"

With all those invites; why not join a bunch of Air Streamers in Pecatonica the second week end in May? We would all like to see Lucy (L3). Follow us on the forum.

Mike, if L3 is completely up and running by then, we may just do that, but it seems we have a couple of "issues" to tackle first. We'll let you know before we do. Thank you all for the warm welcomes! =)

Is your trailer level while your trying the fridge?
Some RV fridges take 3-4 hours to start to get cold.

Also the electric heating element sometimes has trouble heating enough to cool in subfreezing temps. That sounds weird doesn't it?

L3's refrigerator issue

@Wazbro: Thank you for your suggestions. L3'll be leveled out this morning before we try the frig again; at least today, we have sunshine and 27! The refrigerator issue did bring me to read and read every Forum post about the Dometic's issues...the drapery panel on the far left of the dinette window was significantly discolored in an upwards splash motif when I removed them and I wondered what would cause such a design...this morning, Dave asked me if ammonia stains? Could the frig have had a leak and the PO did not know because there was no disclosure? Hate it when I have these thoughts....I question everything!

Anyway, while Lucy3 is parked in the drive with her stabilizers down, our area is expecting more snow within the next 48, so we don't want to completely block use of the driveway. Overall, maybe we're just too excited for all the mechanics to be checked right now....we haven't even been able to test the water heater, so that's next. But, we remain optimistic at this point...

L3 and her refrigerator

So, since you've hung on to every word..., I happily write our AS refrigerator works well when level =), and my better half is still kahfutzing! He was able to test the AC also, and it seems to kick nothing but cold air!! Lucky us! So on to new shoes.....re-cert tanks plus fuel....etc. etc. etc. Do appreciate the support, always.

Glad the fridge works. The fridge boils the ammonia and the gas goes through the pipes and when the trailer wasn't level the liquid ammonia was probably blocking the gas causing the gurgling.

L3's refrigerator issue

Thanks, Wazbro; your tip did the trick! Yesterday the tanks were re-certified and filled; today, we watch the snow cover the landscape! Just a little bit at a time works for us. Appreciate your input.

Have a wonderful day, all!

Our L3's refrigerator dilemma

Unfortunately, I posted yesterday regarding our Dometic RM3807 and her gurgling issues. So while the refrigerator worked earlier this season, three days before her maiden voyage (under our ownership), the frige gurgles. Again.

Received two diagnosis'....neither of which came with magic wands...so we're buying lots-o-ice for our coolers!!

Best,
