Vehicle Insurance for long-term travelers

Hi, we are a Canadian couple planning a multi-year journey within North America and one of the challenges we're facing is finding an auto insurance provider that will permit us to be out of the Province (Ontario) for longer than 6 months. We are willing to plan our journey so that we are inside Canada for 6 months or longer, but not necessarily restricted to Ontario.
We are currently insured with Aviva Elite.

If this question is answered in an existing thread, I'd like to find it. If you can advise me in any way, I'd appreciate your help.

Thanks!

You might find a better audience in the Insurance sub-forum, and maybe even some older threads that touch on this:

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f351/

Unfortunately you are bound by the laws of Canada, as well as the provisions of your contract with the insurance company.

If you "dip back" into Ontario for a day every 5 months, would this satisfy the insurance company? It may be possible to comply with the language of your policy, with some creative planning. What is the exact language?

The devil is in the details IMO.

Good luck!

Peter

PS -- The new search function in the blue box above works great on the desktop version of this site. Here are the "Aviva Elite insurance" results, which disclose a couple of earlier threads:

Not sure how many of those earlier posters are still around, but if you click on a user name, you can select "Send a Private Message" from the drop-down menu to contact them.

Good ideas! Thanks. Dipping might be the way to go.
