Laundry supplies: detergent, dryer sheets, clothespins and line in a baggie, extra laundry bag, plus barbecue tools if they fit.

Purpose of cabinet

Not sure how various configurations compare, but in my 25' FB FC, that same cabinet is the access to the water pump and some water lines, including a small filter. So it's a needed space and I think the idea was to use what remaining room there is for something and the hardware is needed to open the door when getting to the pump. Perhaps your unit is different.

I agree with all the suggestions above. I put a dust pan and brush.

Gary, on the 23FB, there is a lid in the bottom of the closet to access the pump and such. The small compartment below is configured with a back that is stapled to some cleats and is not a door to access the area behind. At least, that's the 2015 configuration. Maybe others will chime in with more different model information. Thanks for sharing the info on the 25. Note - we use it same as you. Pat

Useless space

In a small trailer there is no useless space. In time you will find a purpose.

That's exactly what the design guy said to the engineer at Airstream when they rolled out the prototype... "What's that thing for?" he asked pointing to that 2" deep cabinet.

The engineer looked back at the design guy and said "I dunno but let's keep it and one day somebody's gonna post a question on the forums and we'll find out!"

Really, that's just how it happened...

We're able to nest several different saute/fry pans in there.

If any of you have watched the “more you explore” videos on
YouTube you know there is another 5 inches or so behind that cabinet. It is poorly utilized. AS uses pocket screws to build cabinets. There has to be a way to bump it out. Open the door next to it ( in our 23 cb) and you will see. FYI we put knobs on the cabinet next to it to use the space that AS didn’t put any on.

On our 23FB the speaker is behind a door under the drawers and half closet on the right side of the trailer, sitting in front of the hot water heater. In my opinion, this speaker serves no real purpose and I removed it.

Has anyone done anything with this space? The heater can get warm, so its practical use may be limited, but given the creativity on this forum, someone may have found a use for it.

Thanks,

Steamy1, what did you do to the speaker wires? Just wrap the ends in electrical tape and tuck them away?

Yes; if we sell the trailer I would either give the new owner the speaker or re-install it, depending on if I can find an alternative use for the space or not.

I just did not think a speaker behind a solid door was value added to the listening experience, and I did not want to leave the door open when using the stereo. Would rather replace the existing surface mount speakers with a high quality set, along with replacing the head unit.

Totally useful!

Wine, rye, vermouth fit perfectly in my cabinet below the fridge. Manhattans at cocktail hour!😎
