Unique Name?

I'm renovating a Tradewind from the 1960s (still trying to nail down its year) that I found in a farmer's field in Wyoming last July. We came very close to picking what we thought was a great name - possibly a one-of-a-kind name. So I searched for that name in the forums and, sure enough, it is currently one-of-a-kind name, but for someone ELSE.

What is the right etiquette here? Is it better to choose something else? Or can there be many Airstreams with the same name? There's lots of people with the same name, but still.

What do you all think?

I don't have a name for my Tradewind so feel free to use one of mine.

Since people can coexist with the same name, I don't see why Airstreams can't.

You'll find yachts with the same name, sometimes even in the same marina. Cities in different states can have the same name. Pets can have the same name. There's no reason why your trailer's name has to be unique.

Now if you can just teach it to recognize its name and come when you call it…

I don't think it was ever an issue.

If you're worrying about offending anyone, don't post it and nobody will ever know.

Anyway, no matter what you name it, you'll use the same nick name that ALL of us use……." Money Pit "

One more bit of advice… no matter how tempting it is to use a fiendishly clever pun in the name of your trailer, please keep the name acceptable for use in front of children (i.e. PG-13 or better). Unless you usually go to "adults only" campgrounds, that is!

How emotionally secure is your trailer? Will the same name cause an identity crisis....requiring psychotherapy?

Airstream shrinks are expensive.

You all make me laugh. "Money Pit" is spot-on, Beverly is nice too. I'll let you know later, once we decide!

Like the 'black holes' in space that can suck in everything near them, the 'silver hole' seems to be capable of the the same activity as well from accessories and cash to the owner's time.

Go with what you like!`

We named ours "Penny Lane" after The Beatles song which was written in 1967...same as our 1967 Caravel! We thought it was perfect since the song was recorded on the "Magically Mystery Tour " album!
Not hard to tell my hubby is a huge Beatle fan....
It was FATE!

We are on trailer number three and naming them never even occurred to us until this last one, a 64 Globetrotter (which is still being rehabbed). Every single step of the way has been plagued with hidden problems almost as though the trailer is resisting rehab. We've already ordered the new name plate... "Globstinate"

I named mine after someone after they had passed. That way you are paying tribute to them. Mine's named after my grandma Agnes Payne who loved to go camping in her rv. This way a have a some of her with me to go visit places she has been.
