All the previous advice is great (and ditto on the life hacks - both funny and practical).

My list (not really in any order of priority, just off the top of my head):

1. A good co-pilot who is good at hand signals (if not, bring a walkie talkie or use your cell phone on speaker while you make a cell call) to help you back in or maneuver in/out/around tight spaces that might be hard for you to see (bonus - this person is your significant other).

2. Heavy duty latex or vinyl gloves to keep your hands clean when working on sewage connections

3. Foldable clothes hanger/dryer

4. Go to TJ Maxx, Ross, or other discount stores and buy nice wine glasses. They come in boxes with separators, and if they break, well, only about $1 each so you don't really care (and much nicer to drink out of glass than plastic or other). I have at least a dozen on hand and use for both wine, water, juice, etc and the two boxes containing six each take up little space, and have only broken one when I dropped it, not during transport. Just store so they don't move around (put clothing or other stuff around it, pack under your bed cover on your bed, etc.).

5. Comfortable lounge chairs

6. Artificial roll of grass, say 8x10 or bigger

7. Favorite board games to entertain you (and the kids or make a drinking game out of it with adult friends)

8. A GPS tracking device hidden in your AS in case it's ever stolen (do an internet search for GPS Tracking for cars / trailers)

9. Small, sturdy foldable table for your BBQ (I like and use the Weber Q, and there is a propane hose adapter you can hook up to your AS propane hose so that you can use the Q - or other propane BBQs - off your trailer tanks and now don't need to carry an extra propane tank).

10. Your kids. They make every trip enjoyable.

Have fun!

Hi, Oh, I almost forgot; All newbies are required to watch two movies from start to finish before your first night/day in an RV.

(1.) "R.V." with Robin Williams.

(2.) "The Long Long Trailer" with Lucy and Desi.

Hi, I have to include number 2. because my wife was also known for collecting rocks and plants while traveling.

I have seen number 2 - I am halfway there. I promised my husband I would NOT collect rocks.

I prefer the book version of #2. The movie version was, "Let's exaggerate everything about the book,"

Here's a couple of recommendations:
1. Pad and pencil to record mileage on your trailer. Another to write down the items needed for next trip
2. A bag of leveling blocks and a torpedo level
3. A kneeling pad for all the times your on your knees leveling or hooking sewage gear
4. Zero gravity chairs
5. Cooler with ice
6. Work gloves
7. Led head lights for everyone
8. Crock type shoes that easily slip on/ off in the dark
9. Sham wow type shammies
10. LED tea lights
