Feel free to contribute something on topic, that might get it back on track.

Personally what I would like is a fibreglass Airstream with an Aluminum leaf overlay.

People are saying they want better quality. We're discussing how to get there.

And I still want my internal bike mounts :-)

I believe its better for this thread to stay on the subject of "things" we all would want on airstreams...better this item, that other mod, this better frame, this improved insulation...etc and so on...

Getting into all sorts of side conversations that are more philosophical may be of utility, but I would say those deserve separate threads as they are just not as straight forward as simply stating the "thing(s)" that you would like to see?

Food for thought...

I would like to see an Airstream Factory delivery plan, where you can order your Airstream through an authorized dealer, and take delivery at the Factory.

Brian they used to that, long time ago from what I learned on the tour. When I was checking out motorhomes some time ago some of those manufacturers do factory pickup. Newmar does a 5 day check out at the factory. Cost is $2500. What I found interesting is that according to their website the team that does this is located near the final QA point. When they start the delivery process the assigned team member goes through the coach with a fine tooth comb, usually finds lots of stuff to fix/tweak and then starts the turn over process to the new owner. Found that to be in line with all of the posts about quality at A/S. Even on a coach that is $500k to $1M they don't catch it all before it leaves the factory.

The easiest way to sidetrack and destroy a useful discussion is to mention "quality".

Why yes, officer. Right you are; but correct me if I am wrong - it was you who brought up canoes and kayaks in an EB ...

We would also like to see an interior mount for bicycles ... either designed or "approved" by AS. Folks with expensive bicycles don't usually want to carry them in the low pressure area behind either the TV or the AS because that is where all of the road grime flies up and collects on the bike's oiled mechanisms..

What we would like to see in a new Airstream - to answer the OP ....

some thing ... is much better QUALITY CONTROL / Inspection
*** prior to us field testing the units ***.

AND THEY’RE OFF...

Please remember folks no one from Airstreams is interested in form members snipping at each other. They are interested in concise suggestion that they can explore to grow their business and please us the customers (if possible)....

So if we the customers are only capable of wining and bitching about things - all the company can do it ask if we would like a bit of cheese with that wine!

That was a correction to how someone was misusing their AS in my opinion. I would bet my eight hundred dollar SS check that if all the things we want on AS were suddenly in production, the same people who are critical now would not be sAtisfied even then.

I'd like to see some kind of interior light dimmer for bedroom reading lights and dining area lighting.

That's not true at all. The easiest way by far is to mention firearms.

No Ken, that gets the thread closed. But now that you brought it up we'll see what happens.

I agree with dimmer overhead lights in the bedroom. I'm speaking of the small movable lights just over the pillows, under the overhead cabinet. I've been looking for some LED's to replace the 9-LED lights to something less bright to my spouse can sleep and just bright enough to read a book. The existing LED lights up pretty bright. I'm considering cutting a round disk the size of the glass cover out of some dark plastic (placed between LED and glass cover) to dim the light output.
