The World's Best Donuts; Grand Marais, MN

I thought I would share the newest Airstream Wanderings video (5 minutes long). This time we wander into Grand Marais, MN in search of the World's Best Donuts plus a few more sites in this small town along Lake Superior. Contrary to common belief, Minnesota isn't all corn and soy beans. I hope you enjoy it.

OK, the gauntlet has been thrown. I challenge that. The world's a big place. North of the border in the town of Campbellford, Ont is a bake shop above any I have tried. Click on the link, and let the picture scroll to the cream filled glazed donuts. Wonderful. In fact all there goods are wonderful.

I don't like donuts. I don't like donuts. I don't like donuts. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it.

Actually, I hear there is a really good donut shop here in Jupiter, FL.

These are indeed delicious donuts, sold in a beautiful town, and it's just plain fun to stand in line to get into this little place and carry out warm donuts of your choice.

Fall into the category of "one of life's little pleasures".

Mosey a bit north out of Grand Marais, take a left on the Gunflint Trail, and drive that to the roads dead end at the Boundary Waters.

Truth be told I'm not sure the reality stands up to the advertising. But they are definitely the best in town.

The Cascade Lodge south of town has simply amazing apple pie!

Got to mention voodoo doughnuts. Started in Portland, Oregon (I think) but now in Eugene, OR, Denver, Austin, and Taipei City, Tiawan

Near Two Harbors on the way to Grand Marais is Betty's Pies.
I give it 2 out of 5 stars.

We just got back from a 17 day trip all around Minnesota. By the second week we were calling it the "Donut Tour." No matter how small the town they all had a great donut shop. Yes, we hit the famous one in Grand Marais, but other towns not quite as famous were just as good. The only place I've had a better donut was a small shop in Battle Creek, MI. Years later we still talk about it!

Should have gone a few miles further north...you could have had a Persian

"A Persian is an oval-shaped, cinnamon-bun-like sweet roll with a sweet, pink icing made of either raspberries or strawberries. It is credited to have originated at Bennett's Bakery in and remains particular to the former city of Port Arthur, Ontario, Canada. The city is now known as Thunder Bay"
No matter what the quote says it's a Donut
