The back-up cameras come in handy too.

back up cameras rule.

Love it!!

They should do MORE of this marketing...except this seems kind of "tongue-in-cheek"...they should do it from a "serious" standpoint.
Marketing people (for some reason?) get to decide "what is hip"...and for whatever reason, its been decided that SUVs are cool, and mini-vans are decidedly NOT. I know SO many people who SHOULD be driving minivans, but squeeze themselves into these quasi-suv's, (which give you all the disadvantages of a truck, without any of the advantages),because they refuse to be seen as "frumpy", or whatever.
As popular as minivans are, they should "really" be 10x more popular, and they would be, except for peoples' ridiculous views of stylishness.

Remember "Chili Palmer", from the movie, "Get Shorty"? he put the cool in the minivan...and throughout the movie, everyone around him started driving them, because they wanted to be cool, like him.

Now...if only Chrysler would put a HEMI in the Caravan...
AND advertise it: Yah. Its got a Hemi!

(Skip: RR towed his trailer (identical to mine) for many years w/ a Nissan Quest. )

We towed our tent trailer for years with a Toyota Sienna.... ton's of great memories. I'm just now realizing how cool we were... although our children might disagree!

My first post after years of lurking, and on one of my favorite topics! Before the SUV supplanted the minivan as the acceptable FamilyTransportationUnit, the minivan killed my own favorite, the station wagon. I have a sporty wagon (a Subaru Legacy) but it's not up to the task of pulling a Bambi much less a bigger Airstream. A Ford Flex is close, but a little weak on the tow rating.

We had a dodge caravan, and it was a piece of junk. The only car we've ever had where the brakes failed, the tranny failed, and it had a mystery electrical problem that appeared every now and then and made random things stop working. I hated that thing, I'll never own another mini van thanks to that caravan. I just look at them and think they are disposable junk. That's part of why we moved up to the full size van. At least it's like a truck, built to last.

That is a bummer Stef and you are not the only on with that kind of story.

I swore off Fords after owning a Mercury Topaz for 18 months. Issues with poor build quality and service. After that I bought a Toy Camry, my first of many imports.

There are also horror stories with all other kinds an makes of vehicles too.

Yes. Yes they do.

We're still in our 30s, have no kids - but the one car we own is a minivan. Towed our T@B cross-country and now we're towing the Argosy Minuet.

I love the Sienna swagger wagon ads - but I much prefer my Odyssey to drive. Handles much less like a boat.

I'm kicking around the idea of buying an used current-generation Avalanche someday if I get a bigger modern trailer (like the 23FB we like), but the van is more practical for hauling our kayaks and bikes and it drives better.

I've seen spy shots of the next-generation Odyssey towing a pretty hefty cargo trailer and the 2011 Nissan Quest looks to be quite a brute...
