Suggestions for South Carolina RV parks on beach?

I am looking to head straight over from Atlanta to the Ocean. I have checked out Hunting state park and Edisto State park. Any other good ones where I can get on or very near the beach with water and Electric? I don't want to head to far up north on the Carolina coast.

Brian

Never stayed at Edisto - but Hunting Island State Park is a paradise, I try & hit there at least a week every year. If you go there in the winter you'll have a lot of space to yourself.

we live in york south carolina and frequently visit huntington beach state park. it is about 3 miles south of murrels inlet. the camp sites are not on the beach but only a few hundred feet away. the sites are a very nice size and in most cases provide for a fair amount of privacy if you so desire. this is our second choice behind hunting island. another nice thing about huntington beach is the bike trail. you can ride your bike south to litchfield beach and find some really good seafood, our favorite is litchfield beach fish house. you can also ride north to murrels inlet the seafood capitol of south carolina.

Wish I had seen this post back in Dec, we use Myrtle Beach State Park, spacous, beautiful, shady, near the water, only has elect/water on site but they are large sites. Plenty of room for the kids to play and only a short walk or drive to parking area next to beach then walk onto beach.
If I remember it was 20-25 per night.

We stayed at Edisto spring 2011. We liked it a lot and will return again. It is a less commercialized area and still close enough to Charleston and Savannah for day trips.

If you want a few more amenities we would suggest Willow Tree RV Resort in Longs, S.C. It is about 9 miles to Myrtle Beach. They have full hookups (water, sewer, and wifi). It is very well maintained with huge paved sites with concrete patios.
We have stayed there many times and always enjoyed it. Here is a link:

If what you want is beach, Edisto or Hunting Island are the places to go.

Our preference is Edisto, hands down. Just left 4 nights there.

Such a beautiful, beautiful place.

Just returned from another gorgeous weekend at Hunting Island, SC. It is near the town of Beaufort, which is a charming, walkable little hamlet on the water. Hunting Island has plenty of spots one sand drift away from the water. Large trees cover the entire site and shelter the camp from much of the wind that can sometimes come off the water. A lighthouse can be accessed from the campsite by short walk or bike ride down the beach. The site is very dog-friendly. Even at peak (which is almost always), it is easy to find empty stretches of shoreline to stake your claim for a bit of solitude. Nice, well-stocked camp store.

If you plan to go to Edisto or hunting island, check reservations/ availability. I was trying to go there on the weekend of 4/13 but it was all booked up. We live at the beach anyway so ended up making reservations at MODOC, SC for a change of scenery; it is an Army Corps of Engineers Park on J Strom Thrumond Lake. here is a link to the park website:
Facility Details - MODOC, SC - Recreation.gov
They also have a neat campground map that hyperlinks the campsites to photos of that particular site:

So Hunting Island appears to be quite the spot - anyone have any links to pictures of the actual sites there and the surrounding hot spots so to visit?

John, try the S.C. State Parks web site, it should have specifics on the sites, maybe some pictures. The city of Beaufort (SC) is about 12 -14 miles away.

Hunting Island SP is a sweet spot, give it a look. Paved roads, dirt (sand ) site. Most heavily wooded with Palms & live Oaks.
John
