South Dakota

We are working on fulltiming next May. Trailer/truck insurance, mail service, on and on. Looking at South Dakota as many do. Does anyone know how you buy your trailer and truck and register there? Drivers license...confusing! Thanks for any help. BadKat

I live in SD, so I just go to town with my checkbook.

Maybe just Google "how to register rv in south dakota"

Sites like these come up for me.

SD Residency FAQ

Vehicle Registration in South Dakota - mail forwarding - Americas-Mailbox

Best of luck.

Eastern South Dakota is very pretty with hills, rivers, and trees.

Generally it's done through the county courthouse. I grew up there and maintain residency. With my last trailer purchase, we were able to go directly through the state DMV office in order to get a new title built and issued. Their DMV website has all the information, laws, forms, and contact information.

I'd recommend searching online for services that provide mail forwarding and registrations, like Alternative Resources or others, and talk to them about details... There a number of them, and Montana also has similar services to se up ownership corp, and residence address and mail.. Not easy to do it on your own, and potential consequences if you get it wrong..

In Theory, there's no difference between Theory and Practice, but in Practice, there is usually a difference...
