Welcome to our usual world; however, this winter has been mild until now. Last year 40" in February - this year they had to move the route for the sled dog races!

and not a single brass monkey could be found!

Ottawa, Ontario saw its coldest February on record. The temperature did NOT reach 0C (32F) even once in the entire month. We had about normal amounts of snow, but with the continuous cold snaps, none of it melted, so accumulations all grew nicely. :/

Typically it was around -35C with the wind-chill factor most nights.

Sure glad this was the year that I decided to replace the batteries on both cars we have!

Here in NW Arkansas, we had 4-5" of snow today, then changed to sleet tonight. Solid sheet of ice on the roads.

We're enjoying a toasty-warm fire in the wood stove and a nice glass of rum! No problem staying warm here!

Does Victoria get a lot rain and overcast days in the winter also? Wolf146
Our climate is actually vastly different from Seattle and even Vancouver, which is just across the Georgia straight. I seem to remember it had something to do with our mountains cast a rain shadow for those on the mainland. So we get much more clear days and substantially less rain than them. Here's a cut and paste from the tourism Victoria site

Located in a sub-Mediterranean zone,*Victoria, British Columbia*boasts the mildest climate in Canada and the driest summers. Victoria receives an average of 308 clear days each year and, contrary to popular belief about the region, only 66.5 cm (26.2") of rain. How does this compare? Both Vancouver and New York City get twice as much precipitation and Victoria has 5 times as many sunny days as Seattle!

Spring*

Spring is mild and can arrive as early as February. While most of Canada is still buried under a blanket of snow,*cherry blossoms flood city streets and the*City of Gardens*boasts two million blooms.

Summer*

Summer is comfortably warm and dry. Victoria has a very low humidity ratio and almost constant offshore breezes keep summer days from becoming too hot and summer evenings cool. This makes Victoria the perfect location for spending all day at outdoors. Between beautiful*beaches, great*restaurants*with sunny patios and numerous festivals and events there won't be a shortage of*things to do.

Autumn

Victoria often enjoys a warm, sunny September with fall arriving late in the month. Deciduous trees change colour and lawns and golf courses are green and lush throughout the winter. You can explore nature's spectacles on a relaxing*fall walk*and get in the*Halloween*spirit in the haunted capital of British Colombia.

Winter*

Victoria receives rainfall during January, February and March, with occasional light snowfall. Although winters are mild and rarely include snow, warmer clothing is recommended between the months of November and March. As Victoria gets ready for*Christmas, the city is filled with lights and a hot drink will keep you warm and feeling cozy.

Oh but its not very nice here right now.... http://www.buzzfeed.com/tanyachen/br...columbia-sucks

From what you can see our temps are pretty awesome, never to hot and never to cold. Today I was up on the roof of my trailer working in a tank top. It's why we four season camp and how come most Airstreams you see for sale from Vancouver island don't have air conditioners. Nor are the vintage ones all rotted out as a lot of people suspect. I have 3 that are all original 40 plus years old and only one needed floor repair and that was caused by a poor attempt at a wing window repair. The only crappy thing about here is the ferry fares are ridiculous so we just stay on the island, lots of beauty to see here anyway. We'll be able to travel further abroad when we're not feeding three teens ☺

Too bad it is so far from here to there pulling an Airstream. Seems like the perfect weather pattern for us. Not too hot, not too cold, short winter, not too much rain!!!! I would not have expected that knowing what my sister puts up with in Seattle in the winter with rain and cloudy - that I couldn't take. wolf146

Tried to add these images yesterday, hope they work today.
We have had no typical thaw cycle, so all of the snow has stacked up.
Not as bad as the 7 feet our neighbors in Buffalo NY got in December, in a week, but still getting hard to find a place to pile it... Global warming ????
