On another note a 34' bumper pull would have to be a bit of a pain to maneuver. Certainly their are some fuel stations etc you would not pull into. Shoot the 30'11" can already force you around the block to avoid making a right at an intersection etc. I'm sure you would have to watch tail swing. Also was thinking a power everything lux Classic might weigh close to 9,000 dry. Guessing 1,200 pound TW dry? But I presume the triples would be resistant to sway.

The 34' tridem were set with low tongue weight so that a car could pull them. 700-900 lbs back in 1980s, IIRC. Once the wide body came out, the TW may be higher gross and percentage. But they tow beautifully. Easier than any tandem.

The "swing" (pivot) on my 35' tandem axle Silver Streak is greater than the 34'. Even with the longer tongue cause by using a Hensley it's still not hard.

But watch out for dogleg backing.

It really comes down to the TV. A Chrysler 300 will have an easy time with its 121" wheelbase. It's the 172" Ford truck drivers that forever look like tenderfeet.

We would like it while in camp, not so much at the fuel station. However as Slowmover says, maneuverability is more about tow vehicle wheelbase than trailer length.

Our last truck was 120", this one 140". The short truck was better for backing the same Airstream into a tight spot. Going down the road using a Hensley style hitch, no noticeable difference in stability.

Thats a good point it is more about TV length for maneuverability. Yard dog drivers always make OTR trucks look silly putting trailers in dock slots. Doug you must have the shorter bed because I have the same wheelbase with the QC.

With a WDH Rams receiver is rated to a TW of 1,290. I would not want to exceed that but from what your saying Ross I would likely be good on a new dry trailer. No propane no water. I would check first.

From the stats I found on the old ones dry most grossed under 8,200. Figure the wide bodys might be 8,500? Part of me hopes they at least do a run of them again. I do like the train car looks as Cristobal put it. BTW your 34 looks fantastic. I'd sport that and enjoy it.

Have a look at the thread by 2Airishuman from a dozen years ago.

"Visited Cat Scale - the numbers are in" (roughly).

He ran hard miles with a 2005 34'. (30,000+ in no time). You can see how the scale numbers worked for him. He learned as he went.

(And as reference, you can research any topic on which he comments and use his opinion as a baseline. Agree or disagree, in the end, he understood the subjects back and forth. Someone I someday hope to meet).

Ross I found the thread. A good read so far. Only got through the first two pages, have to finish the rest after I get back. I've weighed a couple different loads/outfits but never kept numbers because it wasn't my trailer & or stuff. Also my situation is a constant steam of trailers so. I generally have the actual trailer weight can look up the TW & know my truck weight etc. All trailers are dry so you generally have enough info / experience with it to know if its going to be in the range where is will tow well.

My experience with the Panamerica M-34 was most enjoyable. Towed using a 2010 Tundra CrewMax 5.7L short bed (4x2). WD hitch w/1400# flat bars & dual friction sway controls made for a solid ride. CanAm RV did a great job guiding the setup. Towing wasn't too challenging; however, you did need to plan ahead where your travels would take you. Fuel stops needed to be at the same places the big rigs went - or at night - in city stations. You get used to it pretty fast. On the interior, the only drawback was the position of the queen bed, as there wasn't much space around the bed. The flexibility of the aft area allowed for another sleep area or adult playthings from cycles to kayaks. I used it as a retreat space. Currently looking for a second 34' model. Since only18 PAs were manufactured, they show up infrequently. One is in "The Accountant" (2016), staring Ben Affleck.
