After a series of unavoidable delays we finally made a trip to Colonial in NJ to try to narrow down our choice of models. We were pretty sure we wanted a 25FC twin but were not sure of FB or RB. We decided while there to look at 23' s as well as we liked the FB model (mainly because of the bathroom being across the back.

After spending some time in various models we decided the 25 RB Twin was right for us. The final decision was my wife's and was made because of the bathroom layout and the microwave placement, both of which she liked better on that model.

Now comes the "however". One of the 23's we looked at was a Serenity model. My dear wife fell in love the interior. She especially likes the light colors and the upper cabinets with sliding doors instead of the flip up and down doors on the FC.

So we asked about a 25RB Twin Serenity and as you know they are only available as a special order for about $4500. So to get a Serenity with twin beds will be a premium cost of about $15,000 (with the Serenity uncharge). Plus it will most likely be an end of summer delivery. Neither of which are appealing.

I'm not sure why I'm telling you all of this as I know it is ultimately our decision. However, all the FC models we looked at had dark counters and dark bed spreads. The catalogue shows a FC model with a Mica decor which has light colored counter tops and bed spread. Would anyone happen to have that model and be willing to post some pictures? This might help my wife be more comfortable with the interior.

Congrats on your decision, sort of. I know these things can be hard. You want to make the right choice, but you're not sure what that is.

Take solace in the fact that whatever Airstream you choose, you will have a great time with it.

Thanks. Having put numerous miles under your belt with Lucy(s), have you ever had any issues with the cabinet doors (those that flip up and down) opening during travel?

Twin beds put your body against the raw aluminum wall which can be frigid in the colder weather. We were in the NC mountains when it was below freezing and you could not touch the wall it was so cold.
No advantage to the 23' unless you have a storage space problem. It is a great layout, but narrower.

Is "mouse fur" still available? It adds another comfortable layer of insulation to the interior walls.

Regarding your question as to the cabinet doors, I had catches put on all of them to stop them from opening every time I hit a bump. The front ones still do on a regular basis (I have a magnet for bumps evidently) but it has just about eliminated the problem elsewhere.

My biggest issue is the hinges on the doors under the sink....still trying to solve that issue, and I no longer store anything of any weight under the sink.

I'm not aware of any new trailers with mouse fur. I thought it was a Classic only thing, and the 2015 Classics don't have it.

Michael is right - our 2001 Safari has the mousefur and it was very comfortable sleeping against the wall with the outside temperature around freezing.

We also have the lift-up overhead cabinet doors and have not had any open on the road in over 3000 miles of towing. Ours have some kind of a click-lock latch that takes a significant pull to open. I never considered the fact that it was not factory. The trailer is in the shop about 2 hours away. We should pick it up mid-week. If the latches are not stock I will post back what they are.

The only drawer or cabinet that opens on me is the one in between the twin beds. It faces forward so it gets nudged all the time from stopping and starting. I'm thinking of putting one of the latches they use on the pantry on it.

The Flying Cloud is the bargain on the Airstream lineup, also functional, durable, and attractive. We bought a loaded FC 25 Rear Bed, added 16' wheels and Michelin tires, ProPride hitch, and had the factory service center convert the interior to reclining chairs with custom cabinets to match for the price of a model with upscale interior decor.

I know that some others here on the Forums have complained of the top-hinged upper cabinets popping open while underway. That has not been our experience. In 140,000 miles of towing Airstreams with those same cabinets, we have never once found one open when we stop.

We have had the seat cushions all over the floor, the file drawer come open and empty itself, and bathroom items all over the trailer. We have hit some serious bumps, but the upper cabinets have always stayed closed.

Even though the sliding cabinet door upper cabinets come with the higher trim level models, I do not think that they are as attractive as the curves wooden doors. Those fiberglass sliding doors are translucent, so you can see your stuff behind the door.

For the $9,000 difference in MSRP between a 25FB Flying Cloud and a 25FB International Serenity, you could do an awful lot of upgrading to make the interior more to your liking.

Good point! A lot could be accomplished with $9,000. Which brings another question. One of the things my wife would like is more color and brightness. All the FC's we looked at were with dark counters and dark bedspreads. Is there an internet store that sells curtains and bedspreads?

We have never ended up using the bedspreads that came with our Airstreams. It is not that we didn't care for the fabric patterns. We found them way too heavy to use. By heavy I mean they weighed too much to be comfortable.

We replaced them with comforters. We have always chosen dark patterns because that is our preference. It would be just as easy to choose something bright and colorful.

Interesting, Brian. Goes to show different preferences. We still use our original bedspread and like it, especially in winter months. It is fitted to the bed and holds a comforter under it in place and the cold air out, we have slept in very cool temperatures with this combination staying nice and warm.

We've not summer campers though, too nice here at home to go anywhere. When winter approaches we're in our Airstream and out of here on a tour of the country, headed in a southerly direction.

I tried to use the supplied bedspread one time and promptly removed it from the trailer. One it is just plug ugly and two it felt like I had a sheet of lead on top of me. Horrible look and design in my opinion.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've looked at the pictures on the web and in the catalogue. We would like to see the Mica interior in person. I've looked on the website of just about every dealer on the east coast and no one has any in stock with the light colored counter tops. I don't know why they are so rare. Any ideas?

That's why I was asking for pictures.
