Removing tape residue?

We we finally got our window replaced! Of course when pealing off plastic anchored with packaging tape (duct tape would not hold) there are some tape remnants and adhesive. Can someone recommend a solvent/cleaner that will not damage the finish the the trailer? I am trying not to make another mistake.

I have always used lighter fluid (naphtha). It will dissolve the glue without damaging the finish.

Agreed. Lighter fluid has always worked for me.

In a pinch….fight fire with fire

I use duck tape, painters tape, and masking tape for both of my jobs.

When lighter fluid isn't appropriate or handy, I make a loop out of the same kind of tape, and push it on and off of the residue.

But yeah if it's a big job, listen to what the guys said.

You can also use WD40 to get off tape residue

Just today I had to remove duct tape residue. Used Goo Gone until I ran out. Then I used WD 40. Both worked. The WD seemed to work a little better.
