Random thoughts on towing with a Converted Van.

Our setup contains a 2018 FC 23cb and TV is a diesel (stick 4x4) 2500 Dodge Ram. Great pairing with our AS, but I’m thinking of buying a van to convert for our dogs and extra space should I want to stealth camp. I love the idea of designing and converting a van, yet I haven’t a clue which Make/Model would pair with towing our AS and best suited to convert.

Any thoughts on models or possible issues?
TIA

These "van as tow vehicle" results, using the new blue search box above, may lead to some green pastures:

https://www.google.com/search?q=van+...=airforums.com

In particular, this thread is pretty good IMO:

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f238...se-171397.html

See Post #25/28 for our Ford Transit 350 van.

You could also search for "Nissan NV tow vehicle" although we did not like driving that particular model.

Good luck,

Peter

Peter thank you for the direction. I can’t believe I missed that thread when I ran a cursory glance for vans. Pfft I’m getting old - me think. No matter it’s exactly what I was looking for by way of suggestions.

I would not go for the extended van...too much overhang to compensate for. 😏

We towed our 34' Airstream with a full sized Ford E-350 van for years and years. We liked the short rear overhang (hitch is close to the rear axle), and the extra room inside the van for gear. The E-350 gave us more cargo space.

We had the V-10 gas engine that had adequate power for mountain climbing. We usually booked about 10 mpg towing. Cross winds were more of a hassle in the higher profile van.

They don't make this vehicle anymore, but there are always good used ones available.
