Questions-- Getting to know you

I thought it would be fun to learn more about you by asking some specific questions which I'm curious about.

Here are my questions. If you choose to answer, thanks! Again, it's all in fun.

1) How many Airstreams have you owned?
2) How long have you been an Airstream owner?
3) If you had to do it again, would you still purchase an Airstream?
4) If you had to do it again, would you purchase a different model Airstream than what you have now, and why?
5) Do you consider yourself a:
  • Newbie (purchased first Airstream within the last 6 months)
  • Weekenders (occasional weekend trips and/or 1 or 2 week annual vacation trips)
  • Full-Timers (always on the road)
  • In betweeners (not a full-timer, but more than a weekender)
6) What is the one piece of advice or word(s) of wisdom you have for other Airstream owners?

Thank you!

2) 12 years?
3)Yes!!!!
4)Not a different model, but perhaps, different options
5) In betweeners
6) Take your time choosing and, above all, have fun!!!!

Great poll!!

1) 1
2) 1 year
3) absolutely
4) no (though a 34' tri-axle is tempting :-) )
5) weekender
6) can't limit to one...

A) relax, it's camping
B) get driver training at your local CDL school
C) join and support WBCCI
D) join and support AIRForums
E) know what you're trying to accomplish and why - THEN decide on your trailer, tow vehicle, hitch, tires, etc.
F) enjoy every minute - life is just too short!

1. 1- I don't own it yet- Bank of the West does-

2. 11 months.
3. Yes.
4. I would get a 34' if'n they still made 'em.
I might get a slide if they still made 'em.
Otherwise I would get the same trailer, but with mocha ultra leather and solar panel.
5. In betweener- nearly every weekend, holiday weekend, and 3 major trips per year- up to 12 weeks in a row.
6. Don't wait. Go ahead and enjoy that shiny silver trailer every chance you get.

1. 1, but currently looking
2. This is our 2nd year, and have put about 12,000 miles on ours.
3. MOST DEFINITELY
4. Not necessarily, but looking at different models for our 2nd. Looking at buying property on our favorite vacation spot to put either or.
5. In-betweeners. Likely always will be. We have a large (grown) family with a passel of grandkids who just love to come to Papa and Noni's house!
6. Please keep posting great information here!

1. We've owned a 1975 Excella and a 2006 Classic, both 30 ft.
2. About 12 years
3. I would buy another AS. We tried a what I call "white box" for a while because it offered lighter towing and more room - it was crap and I just didn't feel the same about it as I did my wonderful Airstreams.
4. I love my Classic, but I might consider going a little smaller - 25-27 with twin beds and two recliners instead of a couch.
5. We are weekenders. I wish we could be In-betweeners, but hubby owns his own business and has no intention of giving it up yet.
6. Choose the right TV and hitch. Join WBICC and the Forums and don't be afraid to ask questions.

1) one plus one on order
2) one year
3) yes
4) yes - 25FB cross frame queen bed did not work for us, so replacing with 27FB Classic twin bed model
5) Newbie
6) Properly sized tow vehicle with reserve payload capacity for the ever increasing "necessities" and the best weight distribution hitch you can afford. Also, switch to better tires than the factory installed GYM "ST" tires

1) 2 Airstreams
2) 4 years in Airstream
3) Yes, the Airstream has been our best overall camper after 50 years of travel.
4) No, already have, liked the trailer so much needed more space for longer stays.
5) 1/2 time (Winter traveler in the South, home is too nice to leave in summer.)
6) "Nice-to-haves" are not your friend, get the essentials and learn to make do.

1) 1

2) 4

3) yes

4) Love my 25FB but would like a 27FB for increased space around bed, additional night stand and larger pantry. For the money required we will stick with what we have

5) In-betweener. We try to get in one major trip each year. This year it will be 5500 miles down to the Balloon Festival and back via lots of stops along the way.

6) Get a late model used coach or buy new if you can. More money for sure but less headaches too.
