Question for you "Twin Bed" people

How many of y'all, when explaining to people why you bought a twin bed floorplan, started out by saying "We've been married XX years and ..."?

Why do you feel a need to explain anything?

I'd say that is how the Airstream came, and MYOB...

That said, I made sure that I built my Airstream with a queen bed.

We never felt the need to explain or justify why we got twin beds!

Just polite? I keep getting asked the question. In fact, I've asked other people with Twins the question. But you've got a point: NYB is a good response.

But I'm asking y'all the question because everyone who I've talked to when we were trying to decide on twins started out by saying, "My wife and I have been married XX years..."

We just answer that we have more bed space. floor space, and outside storage compared to the Queen bed. Not to mention the trailer looks much larger. Most people agree once they look at it.

...and I add that when we were first married all we had was a twin bed for a few years. Synchronized breathing. And somehow ended up parents. Still looking for a root cause...

We like the extra hallway and light of the twin bed layout. A twin bed fit us in college, and still does

We got twins because I am 6-2 and my feet hung off of every trailer "Queen" bed I lay down on. Twins are 3" longer.

Added benefit: because our Classic 30 has several unused inches at the foot of the beds, we used that, gave up a couple of inches of aisle, and replaced the mattresses with Sleep Number extended twins, each essentially half of a king-size bed. But it also does have more storage, and it looks larger looking down the aisle.

Tell them about the 70's disco ball at the other end of the trailer and collapsible telescoping hot tub under the center floor boards and they will forget all about why they give a hoot about twin beds...

2 big guys and a medium-large dog. There's a lot more usable space in a twin-bed plan. Neither of us has to side-step bent over to get out of bed under an overhead cabinet. And the twin beds have never been an impediment to amorous endeavors, if people are really too nosy about it. I ain't shy.

Yep, that's what we say too. And we both fit in a twin if we want!

I must be contrary, because I travel solo but have the queen.
I never considered the twins.........until recently.
First, let me say, the Queen is great.
But the twins open up the floorpan, you have a place to sit and get dressed, you can stand and open the overhead cabinets (Try that with the queen!)
I could take one side and give the other to the dog bed. That way the floor in the living area would be free of dog beds.
Then, the biggie, two MORE outside storage bays. If the AS is missing one thing, its storage.
For me, the big downside is sleeping against the cold metal walls. I'll bet most twin owners have some kind of pad against the wall.

Twin Beds

We went with the twins out of practicality. 2 twins @ 34" x "80 versus 1 queen @ 60"x"75 was a no brainer to us. Also have the room between the twins to move around and get dressed etc. The queen was never an option and yes we have been married 44 years.

I tell them..."My husband and I can share a twin when "we want to", but I wouldn't want to share a queen with my brother (or other traveling companion) any time". That usually shuts them up.
