Question about Magma Nesting Cookware

I plan on buying a set of Magma Cookware. I like it because it nests really well and saves on cupboard space.

I see on Amazon that there are several different versions. "Induction Capable" vs. "Not Induction Capable" and I see regular stainless interior vs. non-stick interior.

Right now I have a gas stove in my Airstream. I may also cook on the campfire.

Which version or combination should I go with?

Thanks!

We have this set with the stainless, non-stick interior and love it. (We had an early version that we used on our sailboat.) Although it is fairly heavy (which is good for cooking), it stores inside the cabinet by our sink. You only need the induction set if you plan on cooking on an induction range.

Same for us. Induction capable with non stick finish. Been using it for 3 years and it has worked out so well. Friends of ours who just bought an Airstream last year liked them so much when they camped with us last year that they got a set as well.

I have not used their cookware however if you ever plan on buying a portable induction stove top to take with you then I would go with the set that is induction ready. On the other hand you can always buy an Induction Interface Disk. I use one for my cookware that is not induction ready. Takes longer to heat

I agree with all said here. We started with these in our sailboat days as well. Loved them. Love them on our Rose as well. We are foodies and have have found these plus a iron skillet handle all we throw at them. I love the thickness of the bottom as it protects against burning. You should check out CampChef as well. Have fallen in love with all they offer. Even carry their portable pizza oven with us on travels. Good luck!

Induction without nonstick coating is the most durable and versatile ..... can be used with gas. The nesting wok is great.

Yes, induction cookware works fine on gas or resistive-heat electric cooktops as well. The only difference is that induction cookware is that at least part of it is magnetic, so the magnetic field generated by the induction cooker will cause it to heat up. So, some older cookware will actually work, but all-aluminum or all-copper or glass cookware won't work on induction cooktops, but induction cookware should work on all cooktops.

Cast iron cookware should work on an induction cooker too.

Simply, to work on an induction cooktop, a magnet has to stick to the bottom of the pot/pan. Beyond that, there is no difference between induction and non-induction.

I have the Magma wok, non stick. If you get induction it will work on every type of stove. The non induction will not work on induction stove.

Non stick is easiest to clean, just take a bit more care with it.

So get induction, non stick.

But I still take, and use, a couple of my my cast iron skillets. Well seasoned, nothing sticks to them. And my de Buyer Omelette Mineral B fry pan. Just don't like plain stainless, things sometimes stick to it, just when I am in a rush.

I like to cook, but I only use maybe 5 pans (when RVing), out of maybe 25 cookware items. Taking more is redundant, and most never get used at all, so I stopped taking more than I actually used on a 3 months trip around the NA continent.

Plain Stainless. Cleans easily. No need for the non stick. It's the best cookware we've had. It beats the non stick Calphalon we use at home.

Watch the handles

We love our magma stainless cookware, also. We have the non stick and reseason it every year to make it non stick. But please watch the underneath sides of your handles - they have been known to bubble from getting too hot. Magma will replace them if you send them in.

Got it, love it

Wife picked up the regular stainless (just likes cooking with it and being able to use a cleaner on it). But word to the wise - check Ebay - she got brand new set and it was $50 less than any other price on the websites.

We've had these for years from back in our boating days. Definitely
Great cookware. I wish they had the induction compatible ones when we bought ours. We carry a small NuWave induction cooktop to deep fry stuff outside of the AS. You set the temp and the cooktop holds it. Great for making funnel cakes! Advise against the non-stick coated ones, since it almost always scratches or peels, but I admit that I have not tried Magma's non-stick.

I bought the stainless non-stick ceramic ones and I absolutely love them. So easy to clean. I've used them all kinds of ways (stove, oven, grill, camp fire) and they are awesome. You will
Love them.

I broke down and ordered the 10-piece stainless induction-ready set from a site called AnchorExpress.com because they had an excellent price compared to what I was finding elsewhere... even after shipping they undercut Amazon and eBay vendors by $40-$50 for that set.

I'll have them in time for the Eclipse Trip, we'll see how they do! Probably won't be doing much induction cooking on that trip since we're boondocking on Casper Mountain, but may take the induction unit for the full-service campgrounds on the way up and back. We'll see how the load-out goes.

Love ours - If you store them in the oven they are heavy enough to push the door open during travel- make sure you latch the door.
