Hi Jack. Diesel bicycles are not yet fully developed. E85 either.
Honestly! I think this next post says something about how many non-Airstream directions we are willing to pursue in a week, month or year -- Photog-flyfish-harley-canoe-singles forums? Thread content and tone inevitably has changed at AIR Forums. I speak for many who would not wish to accelerate the dilution of the principle matter at hand. It's AIRforums.com. Thank you

This forum is an expensive visit. Couple of months ago I started reading some of the bike threads, wound up visiting all of the bike stores in COS, test rode a few. Bought two bikes one for me and one for my Bride. Rode my bike home from the store, 3 miles, kinda rough on an old fat man. And it was uphill all the way. I do enjoy the peacefulness of a ride and hope to have time to ride a lot when the weather is good.

Hey 2air, Just bought a couple of xootr kick scooters Xootr Urban Transport - Home Page Kick Scooters and Folding Bicycles We are having a lot of fun with them. Check them out. I also just replaced my bike with a Trek So Ho 4.0. I am still riding the BMW's but I am enjoying the human powered stuff also.

hi royce
well the springs is a biking mecca of sorts.
next time u get a chance visit the store 20 miles up the road in woodland park.
ANGLETECH
pricey machines, but they will let ya test ride recumbents for free!
the owner (kelvin) used to live in the seattle area, where his dad had an unusual moped, car, lawnmower n bike shop...
his TWIN brother (kevin) runs the northwest shop and they couldn't be more different.
they were one of the first places to carry moultons (my ride) and helped develop the FIRST dual suspension mountain bike.
4 those who haven't heard of or seen a moulton here is the factory site... Alex Moulton Bicycles
the anglelake website is useless except for the retro pictures (website has NOT changed in 10 years)

bikes are good
I would love to see a section for bicycles and how they are important to have and use with our Airstreams. As I remember there is even a picture of one on the side of my trailer...
But really, the bikes are always with us and sometimes the reason we go on a trip in the first place.
We are thinking of attending the tour de Georgia Bicycle race this spring and following along with the trailer like the tour de France fanatics do. I think it would be a great way to see the action close up and still have the comforts of "home".
Thanks 2air for pedaling this idea.

I own at least ten bikes, mostly Treks, and ride nearly every day. I try to do 70-80 miles per week, and it's kind of a hobby to build/rebuild them. There's always one in the back of the TV. Lately, I taken to stripping the paint and decals off the alloy frames so they match my Airstreams.
I'll be OK.

Bicycles and Airstreams
They just fit together. My friend and I did the STP, Seattle to Portland bicycle ride last year. ON day one, we pedaled from Husky Stadium to Chehalis. (The flooded place this year). I pre positioned Aunt Gladys at a small RV park the day before. We rolled up, tired, grimy and sore, it was 115 miles. Got out, took a shower, nap, walk and ate a huge BBQ over the fire. Slept like a baby, woke up with good coffee and powdered donuts, got back on the bike and finished the ride.
The Airstream was designed for outings like this. Many other cyclist stayed in tents, rented rooms, park benches. We were living in style.
Great fun

jnerges,
That sounds like you are living and riding in style. Exercise combined with a five star destination resort waiting at the other end. But I am a little concerned about your diet....??? huge BBQ and powered donuts? Get back on that bike and give me twenty (miles) !

I've been a member her for about 2 years now. Compared to some of the really seasoned users I'm still a relative newby. One observation I've made though is that Airforums is evolving. The moderators will listen to our requests and eventually make changes if it is warranted.
A bike forum might be nice - or maybe it could be part of another forum on activities.

Or I could just threaten to take my bike and go home and see if that works
But it is mostly fun to read what everyone else is up to, be it restoration, rallies, or the new rottweiller puppy. Or biking.
My bicycle interest is as strong as my Airstream "hobby" and I often mention that my last Bike cost twice what I paid for the Safari. Now I cannot afford a new bike after the restoration!
It seems like everyone just posts whatever and where ever they want anyway.
How about a bike section?
Oh by the way, that's Stella with Wally...I think see wrote a cookbook for travel trailering or something....yes?

I've been known to do that with threads here!!
Actually, I like to ride my bike once in a while. On of my best camping trips was a 324 mile bike trip from Raleigh NC to Washington DC. It was a supported ride so I didn't have to lug equipment. After sleeping on an inflatable matress with down bedding it was on that trip that I decided I was too old to be sleeping on the ground. that's when I seriously started to consider an RV.
The favorite of my 2 bikes is an old Schwinn Sierra that's about 20 years old. It started out as one of the original trail bilkes but I've converted it to more of a hybrid. I have lots and lots of miles on it. My other bike is a Longbikes Slipstream bent. Nice bike but it's a dawg on hills.
I really am in support of a bike forum - but after running my mouth and getting obnoxious about a culinary thread, I'm hanging a low profile for a while! (whispering... a bike forum would be cool - I would read it)
