Parking in very tight space

My question is in regards to the ParkIt 360 dolly. I recently purchased an Airstream and the space that I have to park it is very tight. Has anyone out there used the ParkIt dolly to park their airstream?

Hi

First step - update your profile information to show which AS you have. It will help people better focus their answers. ( A 33' Classic is a bit different to park than a Nest ...).

Next - just how tight is this space? There are a lot of ways things can be tight. Some simply can't be parked in. Others require more than just a power mover to get things done.

Also - are there any other issues? Hills, curbs, gravel, long drives? There are a lot of things that can make one of those little dolly gizmos less useful ....

Use one all the time on my Classic 30. It is the one I had for a shorter lighter trailer. I use it to turn the trailer around, or/and put it away in the RV port. I need to regrade the gravel it's getting a little "hilly" and the wheels lose traction. This unit is really too small . The next size, with the remote control is on my list.

I also drain the fresh water tank and it tows better. Usually coming out of the port.

I've had this one three and a half years. I replaced a couple of relays that were being intermittent. Of course I use it likely three to four times a month.

Get the on board battery charger. I also got the wider tires.

My tight space is a 14 x 30 ft RV port at right angles to a 20 foot wide driveway. The trailer is 34 ft coupler to bumper. The TV is 20 ft. Roof supports prevent pulling out with truck too.

I use it on a couple of boats as well.

I was considering the same machine to park my 2019 Globetrotter 27FB. It is 8'6" wide and I'd be going through a 9' garage door. The driveway and garage are concrete and level. Is this possible? Little to no margin for error. Has anyone else used this device in such tight quarters?

There are also other powered dolly makers out there, other than Parkit to look at.


I've been using a Power Dolly (Oceanside CA) since 2012 to move & park our 22' 1960 Avion T20.


Our driveway is only 8' wide with 18-21" planters on each side, then house & retaining wall on either side, & it has an 8% grade for the first 12', & the entire driveway runs about 85' straight back to the garage front.



But after we get the parking pad put in at the far back yard, It will add two 90 degree turns in an "S" or "Z" then another 75 feet straight back to the parking pad (in order to switch between the house & garage, & around the garage side to the far back).

we have had and used a Park It 360 for 6 months now
it replaced another option we used.

this is the best mover we found.

instead of using the ball mount, we removed the shoe off the lift post. it goes directly into the Park It 360 hole and much more stable and easy to move

we used it to move our As up our sloped and curvy driveway.

along with rubber wheel chalks we can turn on a dime.

we power the Park It 360 with our internal LION battery, thus no external cables needed

Here below are 2 pix of ours - the 12V battery on the dolly is to power the trailer's electric brakes, but it's a 1/2 HP 120V powered motor (ergo the orange cord):

*PS - For the Hensley & ProPride folks - pic #2 shows the adapter they made for me to use the dolly with our Hensley Cub hitch which uses a double-ended 2" square "Stinger" (the ball & coupler is coupled to the hitch head, with a 2" receiver in the head for the stinger).


Otherwise, folks with a standard ball will have that at the top of the power dolly.

I don’t have one but I installed a front receiver on my F150.The front hitch has allowed me to park our Classic 27 FB in a very tight area that has about 1/2 inch to spare front to back. We use Walkie talkies to communicate while we tuck it in. The front receiver has baled me out a couple of times in really tight campsites.

Again, this very much comes back to what the OP considers "tight" and the other factors involved. A front hitch *may* be a much better answer than a dolly. A lot depends on the exact details that apply in this situation.

I have a Power Mover specifically because I did not want maintain another battery. The alternative to Tom T's brake battery is to use the AS batteries, although I have not found much need for the trailer brakes in my situation.

I used the Parkit 360 to put an International 25 and now a Classic 30 in my garage with ease. If you order one, I strongly recommend that you order the 7-way plug with it as it doesn't take much of a slope for the trailer to get away from you.

Update everyone..... Received the ParkIt 360 and used it today to move our 25 ft AS through a 9 ft gate with approximately 2 inches to spare on each side of the trailer. Moved it down our not very level concrete drive, about 125 ft with no effort at all. I highly recommend the ParkIt 360, Force 10k with brakes.

I can do either Bill, but since the battery was moved inside under the streetside dinette seat - it's a long run up to the Power Mover, While the alligator clips to the onboard batter are just 3' from the handle/brake switch.


BTW - it's a Honda & small car battery available at Walmart, etc. - & I also use a small solar battery maintainer on it when sitting here in mostly sunny SoCal.

Would like to share a total different option: I am sooooo happy to have an EasyDriver mover installed under my Airstream. I have it with me wherever I go and my son of 15 can handle the Parking in very tight spaces (as he had training with his RC cars).

Yes, Jim was quite helpful on my calls with questions. Give him a shout if you have any pre-purchase concerns. He helped me both before and after the sale.

You want to make sure you've thought of everything as returns are cost prohibitive with heavy shipping costs and a re-stock fee.
