Our 2016 30' Serenity arrived today - recliner option

Well... at long last, our coach rolled into Arizona today after a 3 day trek from JC.

This may be the last recliner option model (no recliners provided, per our request) that AS builds on the production line. (My dealer tells me that our special order for such is the last AS will do "on the line".) Custom shop options, after sale, of course, remain wide open.

My dealer called me the moment the coach arrived at the dealership so we could run down there to have a peek at how our custom request turned out. Aside from the open floor at the front, we also ordered the 16" wheels with Michelin tires, two AC units, manual patio awning, rear and road-side awnings, and gas oven & microwave. AS got it right.

It's a 2016 30' Serenity.

Here, the propane tank cover sits where our recliners will go. AS managed to stuff the electronics that would normally be installed under the sofa into the central cabinet. Nice work! Leaves the wide-open space that we very much wanted for our personally selected recliners.

It looks like Airstream did a little more tweaking (vs 2015 Serenity models) on the textured sliding upper-compartment doors, to more effectively obscure the details of whatever would go into those cabinets.

The white, high-gloss wood work is just gorgeous and, with all the windows, skylight, and vista views, makes for an incredibly bright, open-feeling trailer despite having no slides.

We really like the wood-tone flooring. It will disguise the marks left from shoes coming in from the great outdoors.

Tomorrow, the recliners will be delivered to go into the coach. A Winegard Travler DirecTV high def antenna will be installed on the roof. The dealer's pre-delivery work will be done, and on Monday we will do our walk-thru and bring this beast home!

It feels like it's been a very long wait, but time keeps on ticking, ticking, ticking...

Once we take delivery... I'll do some more pics to flesh out this thread.

Looks good. The only additional change I would of made would be to delete the dinette while I was at it.

Thanks so much to you all for your kind remarks. It feels like we've waited a long time for this to come in but I think it's been about 3 months, so not THAT bad.

The "Cozy Coach" is still in quarantine at the dealership while they take care of PDI and install the Winegard Trav'ler HD dish antenna. Due to the size of the dish, there is going to be a little custom mounting platform fabricated, as the dish will need to sit just off of center.

Very little "corrective" work is needed, but the dealership has gone over it with a fine tooth comb, as have we, and are taking care of the items that need addressing. They remove wheels and check brakes and assembly, fill and operate the water systems, faucets, toilet and tanks checking for leaks, run the stereo, TVs, both air conditioners, furnace, check the gas lines and function, check all cabinets, trim pieces, open and operate all awnings, etc. So far, we have been absolutely thrilled with the people and services at DesertMesa Autoplex - the Airstream dealer in the Phoenix area.

We should have it home next Monday or Tuesday.

We installed the recliners today and the fit could not be better. Absolutely magnificent. Comfort is superb. Our AS specialist sat down in one of the recliners and was afraid he would never be able to get up again. Great day at the dealership checking things out and exploring the functionality of these recliners.

The recliners are swivel, rocker, recliners. They swivel 360 degrees, rock when not reclined, and, of course, recline to nearly horizontal. The material is leather, very well made. And the comfort is as good as the best recliners I've ever had (we have/had a lot of recliners in the house.)

Anyway... enough blabbing... here is how the recliners look in the "Cozy Coach":

We love the ability to swivel around and check out the front view (which may be more entertaining at some places, than at others), as well:

We're surprised at how large the patio awning is. And love the fabric choice:

We think adding the window awning package was one of the best choices we made.

Once we get her home and "move in" I'll do some good quality photos throughout the coach. Eagerly awaiting the first tow to bring her home!

Great looking Airstream. As you know we discussed recliners a few months ago. We had the 30' recliner interior components installed in the front of our 25' FC and are absolutely pleased with it. Makes a real comfy living room, it's hard to imagine they dropped the recliner option once you have traveled with it.

Thanks, Doug. Yes... we have discussed this at length in the other thread. If we couldn't have gotten the recliner layout, or been able to convert to it, we would not have bought an Airstream. That's how important long-term seating comfort inside the coach is to us. As you say, once you're experienced a great pair of recliners in an RV, you won't want bench sofas ever again.

Do I remember correctly that you guys were thinking of moving to a new Airstream again in the not-too-distant future?

We had thought of a new mid-size Airstream; the only simple recliner possibility now is the Eddie Bauer and we like it except for the living space in the rear.

Our FC 25 is a great traveler and very comfortable; it's in great condition and has been virtually trouble-free. We'll hold the course.

Yes, in your shoes, I too would stick with the 25' that you have, as well. That's a nice compact size, easier to tow, easier to find sites to tuck into, and you already have it dialed in the way you want it.

We wanted the 30' so we could have recliners AND the dinette, and a large hall storage locker (we plan to fill it with the Elfa drawer units from the Container Store.) We have a 100 lb. Golden Lab and the extra floor space will be good for him. There may be some sites which I would want to use that a 30' can't fit into, but we're ok with that.

Absolutely gorgeous. IMHO, the 30' and 31' trailer anatomies make for the prettiest of all the AS trailers. And the way this one is appointed leaves me with only 1 thing to say, ok 2 things: TTs don't get any prettier than this ...and...the beautiful SS appearance of this slender-wide-body is enhanced by the solo oval and other SS window's virtual winks of approval of their guardian awning.

Love the sun beaming through the Vista View windows on one recliner and the Fantastic Fan on the other recliner.
