We have had 4 AS's; last 2 we purchased new...dealer didn't have to spend much time since we had owned 2 previous late models that were used, so we understood the systems and monitoring controls. My advise would be to go visit your closest AS dealer as often as you can and sit inside the model you are getting...understand its a Globetrotter and not many if any, on the lot; but the 25 and 27' models are pretty nearly the same without the fluff... learn what does what from those on the lot; ask the sales folks and service guys questions...keep a list and add to as needed. You can't prepare yourself for issues, you don't have yet...so don't overthink things. Understand that all these are hand built, and they all use similar stoves, mechanisms, and plumbing stuff. if something is broke or doesn't work right, which will happen, there are lots of folks to help you figure out how to fix...taking to the dealer each visit just frustrates...remember, they all have issues and it's not really Rocket Science to fix most stuff...so learn as you go...enjoy your experience...and be sure to get a bottle of nice wine or Champaign to celebrate when you get yours....

But you have given me an excellent starting point and I will review every suggestion and put together my list. And I'll most likely reach out to some of you for more info regarding your suggestions.

I can see that I have a lot to learn. But that is a big part of the adventure.

Congrats on your new order. We have been very pleased with our GT to date (we purchased in April, 2018). Our experience was;

1. Before you go down to close. Look at one of the lists mentioned earlier to know all items you need to inspect. After the dealer walks you through to demonstrate the items they want to show you, go through your list w/o the dealer to check off all the items on your list to make sure they work and that you know how to work them yourself. The items they want to show you will not be all the items on your list.
2. You should make sure items work with and w/o shore power and items that should work with the inverter and no shore power.
3. Don't sign the papers to accept until you are satisfied that item work or have been fixed to your satisfaction. I have no problems accepting if it is a minor item they promise to fix but it would have to fixed before I leave.
4. The Polk audio system has a built in weather radio with as a mode option you can select so you don't really need another one.
5. I would make sure you have the basics to tow, set up for water / sewer and electric / chock level and camp.

6. Then, use the previous lists provided to adjust to your particular needs.
7. With the power awning, make sure you cycle it off prior to opening it. That will make sure everything is re-set to the closed position when you use it.


The main thing is to enjoy your GT and use it as much as possible during your 3 yr warranty period. It doesn't matter where you go, just go somewhere. I would recommend short trips at first and then go from there.

My experience is, the more I go, I need less Stuff. Before buying stuff that you do not need, go on a couple weekend shakedown runs close to home and go from there. I always advise to overstock on TP.

I’m still laughing ate the Steve Martin Scene in “Roxanne” where he goes to open the door for the locked-out lady. He grabs a huge toolbox, and the only thing in it when he opens it is a credit card, which he uses to attempt to “loid”** the door lock.

**Slang term for “Celluloid”, the technique of opening some home door locks using a strip of plastic or a credit cart to push the latch back and gain entry leaving little trace. Works more times than folks realize...sorry to raise the paranoia level yet again!

If you decide to go with induction, which you should, then we love this ultra compact cookware set from Magma. We have this portable induction unit and LOVE IT. It boils water twice as fast as propane, can simmer better, and adjusts temperature instantly. You can also take it outside if you don’t want to fill your trailer with odors.

I keep two larger fire extinguishers, one in the TV.

You did not say anything about your experience towing a travel trailer or other type of trailer. If you have little or no such experience find a large empty parking lot and practice turning and backing up. You need to get a feel for where your new Globetrotter is in relation to your tow vehicle and the amount of space needed to turn and stop. Also, pay attention while driving. Don't even talk on your cell phone, let your passenger, travel partner, etc. answer your phone and do the talking. Above all else watch out for the "other guy." Good luck, have fun, and keep us posted.
