One year ago today.....

Today is the anniversary of bringing our Airstream home! What a life changer it has been for us! We never imagined that we would have so much fun pulling a little trailer.

Our friends and family laughed...they thought we'd lost our minds. We'd been tent camping a total of twice when our kids were little. We had no experience whatsoever pulling a trailer. But, it had been something we'd always talked about doing. Touring the national parks in an Airstream was a dream. We loved road trips, we loved hiking and being outdoors and I loved taking pictures.

Buying a trailer was something we planned on doing when we retired - someday. But that someday was still a long way away and we decided that life was just too short to wait for someday!

It was a whirlwind month learning everything we could about tow vehicles and towing. We didn't even look at any other type of trailer. We just knew we wanted an Airstream. We'd always thought they were neat, and then suddenly a dealership opened up just down the road. That was it for us!

Thank goodness for Airstream Forums and all the friendly and helpful people here...we were on 24/7 reading and learning from all of your experience. We were so naive, that our first post here was, "Do you have to have a brake controller?" Embarrassing now !!

We've taken our Bambi out on average twice a month - even in the rain and snow. We traveled a grand total of 4052 happy miles. We've never ventured far from home but we've seen some amazing sights, have had some beautiful mini adventures and we've met lots of great people.

Hoping for many more wonderful years making memories in our little Airstream!

Fantastic! Congrats on the first year, and may there be many more. Your pictures and stories are greatly appreciated.

We're on year 3 of owning one Airstream or another, with no signs of the adventure waning...

Tom

I quote a good friend, "life is not a rehearsal, enjoy it while you can".
At least you found your Airstream in time to enjoy it....

Congrats!

I've been following you as well! We have similar stories - as I read your post I just kept shaking my head in agreement! Of course, having a Bambi keeps me connected to your adventures, challenges, excitement and storage challenges ! You guys are 7 months ahead of us.

But, we are trying to keep up with you! My DH wants to get out before the month is out and it doesn't matter where we go (although cooler temps are a must!)

Here's to continued good times!

WOW! I wish we had the skill and ambition to learn how to use Wordpress for a blog like that! What wonderful pictures and writing. Keep it up and keep enjoying your Small AS. Like you, we got ours about a year ago. Like you, we are in love with the AS community and trailer life (this being our FIRST RV of any kind). In just over a year we've covered about 27,000 miles; 35 states; 2 provinces. Heck, it has wheels - let's roll them. (OH, and we're not retired yet . . .)

Smooth move. I was 55, and my wife 48 when we retired. We bought the new AS two years prior. Best moves we ever made. It seems we are away more than we are home, and always traveling in style. Congrats on your anniversary. Those pictures are great. Keep'em coming.
