Newbie TT owner—help with necessities

Hello,

I’m looking for necessities to operating and living in my 2019 GT, travel trailer. More specifically, other than a tow hitch what will I need for setting up my rig safely, tool box needs/supplies, tools for black tank drainage, propane tanks, electric needs and any other must haves for basic maintenance, operation, safety etc. also, what safety features are there to prevent theft to batteries, tanks and someone backing up to haul off the travel trailer?

First take to the nearest RV park to you and your dealer. Set up live in it for a few days, check and re-check everything it your rig. Fill tanks, dump tanks, check ever system in the trailer get to know it now before your out on the road.

Practice backing up in a large empty parking lot. Set up a few scenarios and practice backing into a camping slot.
There are a large number of threads that answer this exact same question in the new member thread, search newbie and you will find several hours of great stuff. I review it on occasion.

You will want either Andersen Levellers or some levelling blocks along with a level (or LevelMate Pro).

I suggest you find the local unit of WBCCI (the AS club) and ask if you could visit a few rally's as a guest, even before you get your AS. You will most likely find people who live fairly close to you who would be glad to share and let you see what you might need and want. Also, first hand "how to"!

This has worked well for me!

When is your GT due to arrive? With what options? Also what color scheme did you choose?

Welcome, Lve42dy! Do yourselves a HUGE favor. Find and attend an RV Boot Camp. In RVBC you, along with about 200 other newbies, will get a GREAT education in a short period of time. The Escapees run a wonderful RVBC, usually over a weekend. IN RVBC, all the systems found on a modern RV will be explained and demystified. Towing, tires (and much more) are well covered too. Some insurance companies offer discounts to RVBC graduates. Other groups offer versions of RVBC too (RVSEF and RV-Dreams quickly come to mind). Mistakes made with RVs are often expensive and, sometimes dangerous. RVBC graduates are safer, better-informed RVers (and smarter RV buyers). You've also found a GREAT forum. Knowledgeable folks here who are very generous in helping other RVers. Again, WELCOME!

My rig is due in June. Don’t have an exact date yet. Also, I got the 27FB Twin with all upgrades except 2nd AC and the convection micro. I did select the Copenhagen cream.

I once read a post where a guy said don't go out and buy a lot of stuff, half of which you may never need.

I'd take the new unit somewhere rather close to home for the first couple outings, a state park, a local campground.

You need a power cord, a water hose, and a sewer hose to start.

Levelers are good, you can take some cut 2x8's for starters, and take some kind of wheel chocks.

Next thing I'd concentrate on is a typical toolbox of pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, and such.

I'd recommend a torque wrench as an important item, don't ignore your wheel lug nuts early on (check them for proper torqued tightness before every run), and an air gauge and pump to make sure the tires are at the right pressure.

Other stuff you'll pick up along the way for sure, but if you back in to a site with an electric cord, a water hose, and a sewer hose you'll be on your way!
